I remember Johnny Carson's retirement like it was yesterday. That's probably true for a lot of you as well. That Bette Midler performance that teared Johnny up. Here is something I heard a few months ago that blew my mind. More time has passed since Johnny retired than the amount of time that Johnny did the Tonight Show. As you may or may not know, Johnny did The Tonight Show for 30 years. Can't believe how time has flown. It's scary!

Carson proved that he was better than any so-called talk-show host today. He didn’t let his own political views affect his monologue. He joked about both the Democrat Jimmy Carter and the Republican Ronald Reagan; and the jokes were neither mean nor condescending.

Wow. Before Reagan screwed the middle class.
@anonygent21 күн бұрын
The middle class boomed under Reagan. The number of poor shrank considerably as many people went back to work during the Reagan economic miracle. Interesting economic truth: The top 30 companies in the US were almost exactly the same from 1970 to 1980... between 1980 and 1990, there was almost a complete turnover of new companies replacing the ones that had been on top in 1980. Economic stagnation is actually good for existing companies, economic growth is good for new companies.
