Steve Goldman Me too. And I was born ten years after this show aired. The fun couldn’t end on Late Night. The Tonight Show with Johnny, then Late Night with Dave. Two hours of awesome entertainment. You don’t really see that now with Fallon and Meyers or even Colbert and Corden.

The last 2 real TV hosts on one stage. Shame NBC screwed them both over.

Big D -1- Channel I’d give Conan and Craig Ferguson honourable mentions.

How did NBC screw over Johnny? He retired on his own timeline.

Dedicated to (former) Navy Secretary Thomas Modly... Dave: "They said I was 'TOO fit'...I've always admired the NAVY."

Letterman, the king of the tldr anecdotal underwhelming payoff. It is funny, because I laughed, but no one can really explain why.

R C What does «tldr» mean ? 🧐
@rc59894 жыл бұрын
PSA de Lachute sorry, it is message board jargon for “too long don’t read” since Johnny pointed out that Dave’s story was already too long to ‘make a long story short’.

If you don’t know why that was funny you’re a fucking moron. Have a nice day

Dave is such a "Dog Man" (as am I) that he's literally crying after that joke...As am I!!! Miss these Titans of Comedy. At least we still have Dave. Stay safe guarding the Coasts of Indiana!!

Liver joke i spit my water out laughing. Ed had lost his edge and sense of humor by this time. Prob because he was sober. That was hilarious

Johnny was always a class act, and I love the Letterman of this period and into the 90s. When he became angry and political he lost me as a fan.

I loved the mention of Humphrey the whale. I lived in Sacramentowhen he got stuck in the channel. It was a huge story and we all followed it. Daily!

I love how David Letterman never misses a chance to thank Johnny for his success. He was always very appreciative and respectful of Johnny Carson. They are so funny together. 😂😂😂

And there it is, always wondered why Letterman lost out on getting The Tonight Show gig. Don't poke fun at Ed`s liver and don't piss off Johnny.
