Odessa is beautiful. I visited it two times before the war, when it was a 90 minute flight from Warsaw. Sadly I can’t really visit it now, as the 22h bus or train travel scares me, especially with my busted back. I hope we get normality and air travel in Ukraine back again so people can once again visit the beautiful city

Glad to see you give Odessa a second chance. Walk to the bottom of deribosivskaya, then to Park Shevchenka. There you will find the Zolotor heath Track that runs for 7 kilometers along the ocean. It's amazing how in much of the country Ukrainians are able to live more or less normal lives and stores, restaurants and cafes are functioning normally. This is a tribute to the Ukrainian military, which has been able to keep the Russian aggressors from advancing beyond southeastern Ukraine, and early in the war pushed the invaders out of other parts of the country, and also has been shooting down most Russian missiles and drones. And also a tribute to the hard work, perseverance and courage of Ukrainian civilians. Slava Ukraini!

Regarding the Internet. As far as I know, the reason for the fairly good and cheap Internet in Ukraine lies in the fact that it appeared later than in old Europe and networks were already being laid using newer technologies, which is why the speed is normal, plus there are many providers in Ukraine and a lot of competition between them, which influences on the price. In Europe, when the Internet appeared, it was earlier and behind older technologies, and not everyone wants to invest money again in order to completely change the entire network and equipment to new ones.

In Portland Oregon the streets used to be crowded like this than after Covid it went to the addicts and nobody’s come back downtown, it reminds me of a Sunday on a Tuesday afternoon minus all the addicts, the workers still haven’t returned and many buildings are vacant , I still saw some homeless but kinda hide away, Odessa looks so inviting and how my city used to look like and feel in the summertimes, I hope it’s able to get back to it, because my youngest son is investing into the restaurant business, he already bakes and sells at a coffee shop downtown and him and the owners son will go in together, so he obviously sees a future still here.

Odesa is a beautiful city, but the mentality of people is similar to Detroit or Philadelphia in the USA 😪 A lot of alcoholicts, strange people, addicts and so on... And especially the city of the main mafia in our country... When in other cities there aren't mafies yet, Odesa ruled by mafian people... One of the worst cities in Ukraine unfortunately (telling as a ukrainian)

Been to Odesa probably 10 or 12 times, last time was October 2023, beautiful city, always memorable. For all the Russian bots here, everyone hates Russia in Odesa. By the way just so everyone knows Odessa with 2 s's is the Russian way of spelling it. Ukrainians now changed it to the Ukrainian spelling which is with one s.
