I've met Marty and he is a REALLY nice dude, but it would have been unprofessional to take smiling selfies with fans of EITHER team when he's behind the bench. The hockey media up there in Canada would have eaten him alive for that. It was nice of him to acknowledge her at all, even if he couldn't indulge her request.

I'd bet my house this guy lives, or grew up speaking French in Quebec. That sounds native to me, not learned. His English is perfect too so it's hard to tell which language he speaks at home. It's not uncommon in Quebec homes to grow up speaking both, especially in Montreal or Outaouais regions.
