Watching him coach the Rochester Americans (Amerks) to the 1996 calder cup championship! I was 9 at the time and I'll never forget the way that building exploded when we beat the Portland Pirates. AHL but still, Tort was the head coach of the Amerks and it was epic!

He has got almost 1500 games under his belt. Ranked 11th all time in coaching. He is a great coach that must be respected. To say anything bad about him would be a dishonor. He has had his share of confrontations only because he believed it was the right thing to do. Protect his players and expect them to perform. He would be quick to take your head off if you try to hurt his players. This man is one of the greats in hockey history. Hope he coaches many more games.

Ok... Gave you the "liked" and I subscribed so yes please...more Flyers! As a very long time and frustrated Flyers fan (sand we are the champions on school bus to 1st grade after they won 2nd cup😉)... It's been a long oh....4 decades of cup losses and just embarrassing seasons. No one...is more surprised than me that Torts seems to have these youngsters playing up to their abilities and maybe more....so far. Didn't expect it this soon and with a guy like Torts....idk man. Kinda reminds me of Keenan. That hard ass coaching can work for a while but then at some point....the locker room gets poisoned and it all falls apart. Like...Philly in the 80s. They could've hoisted a couple of cups had it not been for the freaks of nature that were the Oilers back then...and then...most of the team straight up wanting to kill Keenan...lol. Worse....it all ended up bringing about the Eric (Glass Jaw) Lindros 90s.... arguably. Some tough years then! Then.... Then damn Red Wings.....argh....lol. Go Flyers!

@RoamHockey Wouldn't make a difference. Bettman Has NOT and will not let a a Canadian team win, but especially the Leafs. Are you forgetting that Bettman and the league allowed a ref to officiate several deciding games that had a beef with the coach of the Leafs? Last year was the first time in a few years that they didn't allow McCauley to ref the deciding games and they won. There's definitely more of an issue then just Bettman and the refs so 1 player or coach wouldn't make a difference

Torts is one of those coach that can clean up the mess in the locker room and get players to re-focus on their jobs, he has been able to get the team overachieved when they have no business to be anywhere near the level of competition. However due to his personality that he has an expiration day which players will eventually get tired of him and then he has to leave. Then, whenever Torts left the team, they immediately got significantly worse. He is a good coach but he has rarely been a solution for team's long term successes.

As a die-hard Flyers fan (and I know this might be unpopular) but I hate this man so much. He's just such a dick and I feel like he favors certain players over others for no reason. Like how Laughton played 20 mins a game before this year still confuses me. He should be a bottom 6 forward not a guy on the 1st PP unit. Hell the fact that Laughton is the only player on this team with a letter is disgraceful and shows just how out of touch Torts is in my opinion. He has 3 natural leaders in Coots, Atkinson and TK and refuses to let them take a leadership role because of his hard on for Laughton. I think this team is playing well in spite of him. Not because of him.
