Pull out the 77W or 32B!! Why does AA fly ghetto 321s to Hawaii from LA gets me. That is definitely a premium route!

Its actually a 32Q, the cabins on the 321 series (except 321T) are all the same.

when I was a kid in the early 80s I'd fly to CA and Hawaii with my family two to three times a year from the NYC area. These flts were always on DC-10s and B747s. Even our trips to Orlando were on Eastern L1011s. Now everything is a narrow body regardless of route. Recently flew on AS ORD to ANC on a B737. Brutal!

All I know is I will only fly out of DFW to Hawaii on AA because they offer flagship experience on that route

Hawaiian islands are very isolated, nothing but sea for a very long time. This pilot is a sane man who values his life and the life of everyone on that plane.

Kudos to the pilot. Err on the side of caution. Better to send the plane for servicing than face an emergency.

I don’t think this should have been a hard decision at all. Something is wrong with the plane, you don’t leave. Why would that be a hard decision to make

As a professional pilot, this is too much of a generalization. There is always a little something wrong on every plane, almost all the time. A decision always depends on all circumstances, in this case a long route over water. The decision he made therefore is 100 % correct. Still I’m confident the captain would have had no problem taking this plane from LAX to JFK.
@leew8787 ай бұрын
@@GermanGuy007 I believe it was mentioned that there was an oil pressure or fuel pressure problem. It’s concerning to know that as a professional pilot that you would still move forward with a takeoff. You probably do very well at flying and have probably encountered situations that were less than ideal while in the air but this is a known issue that may turn out to be not that big of a deal while on the ground but could have turned into much more in the air. Hats off to this captain for making the decision he made and not risking the lives of the flight crew and all the passengers.

We had this issue when I was taking off from London Heathrow heading to Atlanta, GA last month. Weather had been atrocious with high winds, causing delays while we were on the taxiway, but as we reached the #1 position and were spooling up to take off, a plane behind us said they thought they'd seen a tarp get sucked into our left engine. The readings on the engine were fine, but our pilot decided to take it back to maintenance for inspection. We spent another 2 hours with technicians looking through the engine and doing tests, so when we finally took off we were 5 hours behind schedule. We landed around midnight in Georgia so we all missed our connecting flights, but I didn't mind. I'll always prefer safety over expedience when it comes to flying. Thanks, Delta!

In one of my flights from Netherlands to Serbia (2,30h flight), right on the border or NL and Germany captain spoke, explaining that we need to turn back due to issues with some oil system and that they've decided it is best not to risk it. He was so confident and reasured people that everything will be ok. When we landed he said he will walk down the isle and answer any questions while we wait for the maintenance crew to finish. Since that day, KLM became my favorite operator. ♥ The only thing I regret not doing is troll my mom (who was already asleep and missed all of that) that we have arrived in Serbia. 🤣😂

Mad respect! One month ago I was waiting for a plane to Bangkok. It was about 5-6 hours delayed... Alot of people were very upset but I just felt that there is probably a reason for all this. One guy even said "are we going to take of today" when we were finally seated in the aircraft and awaited clearance to taxi to the right runaway. I mean Id rather be a month delayed than dead.... So I always trust in the process when awaiting my flight.
