I probably don't have to mention that this method will NOT work on a modern tactical folder! Thanks for your support and kind words!

I love watching these videos. To answer the question about fit and finish on modern knives. Especially USA made knives like Case and Camillus. Skilled labor like this is expensive. Case Cutlery, Gerber, and several other major manufacturers quality tanked in the 1980s. And the skilled laborer was replaced by a machine. I can't blame the workers. If the blade was rubbing against the liner on a folding knife like this it would be unacceptable to me. I didn’t even think to look and see if blades were centered until I read it on the internet. I truly appreciate how some individuals/ companies can produce flawless, multi-blade pocketknives. That takes patience, skill, good eyesight and a steady hand. Bravo for taking on such a job. Amazing.

P.S. this works on a single blade. The marriage of the tools and angles on multi-layer, multi-blade knives is amazing to me.

This is excellent. I have a case copperlock which is such a beautiful little knife, but the centering bothered me. I actually managed to get it centre without a hammer. Laid it out like you did and applied some strong pressure with my thumb a couple of times and it came nice and centred. So happy with it. Thanks mate.

Thank you so much. I have many victorinox knifes and 70 % of them habe/had decentered blades. Every time i send them to victorinox back to center me the blades but they said to me thats a thing of tolerance. I was very angry specially about the ranger grip models. They cost a lot of money and quasi all of them have no centered tools. So i started to order 6 or 7 times the same knife until i can get one with a centered blade the conclusion was i could get one but then the spring was weak 😅 what the hell i thought. Now your video gives me hope

This is amazing, I just did it on my case sodbuster that was so horribly off center the blade was pressing against the side of the blade well. This method definitely works! It is now perfectly centered with zero blade wobble.

Good video, but next time use a copper or lead step-up block under the blade...to have a good resist...two ore three blows will do...Ohhh, and don't do that on expensive ( 60+ Rockwell) blades...they will brake on you like glass!!😅

Hey Johnny! Just wanted to thank you for this video. I have a beautiful Boker barlow that was slightly off center and was driving me nuts as that truly was the only flaw on the knife. I followed the steps you prescribed and voilà…perfectly centered and still rock solid! Thanks for giving back to the hobby!

Thank you so much, this is probably one of the most useful things I’ve learned about knives. My 1954 RBS British Army Burma Pattern knife blade used to actually catch on the right side, blunting the very end. Now, it is perfect!😁. Even better, one of my most favourite knives, my Carl Schlieper sodbuster knife also now has perfect centring , you have now idea how it used to bug me.😂🤣👍

This is awesome and so helpful!! I recently started collecting slip joints, and although some say it doesn't matter, I like the blades to be centered. And unfortunately, some of the knives I receive in the mail do not have centered blades. Trying to bend the blade into center position has resulted in two ruined knives, but your method absolutely works. I just received a Rough Ryder knife in the mail, and sure enough, one of the two blades wasn't centered. Now it is. Thank you!!

Great video, thanks. I have a question. I have a custom slip joint with wood bolsters and ivory scales. I heard your warning about not trying this method on knives with natural materials as there is a risk of them cracking/breaking. Any other recommendation on centering the blade on slipjoints with those type of scales? Thanks.

Nice and helpfull video. Tank you !!! But what exactly happens in the knife while doing your method ? are you bending the blade, the liners or is it a real centering by changing the tension between the liners ?

but is this actually centering the blade or just bending the blade? Yes, the effect is the same, but the mechanism of action isn't technically the same.

This is stupid behavior. There will be offset, which means there is a problem with the shaft or spacer, not the blade itself.
