One of my favorite episodes of Season 2 of What If?, bringing together the mythos and storylines of my two favorite movies, Thor: Ragnarok and Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. The fight scene between Hela, Wenwu, and Odin are just insane and badass! I hope that we'll get treated to some top notch fighting with Thor and Shang-Chi when they meet in Avengers 5 or Avengers: Secret Wars

The one thing Im kinda dissapointed for most reactions was the fact they all talked about Hela becoming worthy. When that was never her true character arc or the enchantment placed. "Whoever possess this helmet, if she knows MERCY, shall posses the power of Hela". It wasnt just a rinse and repeat of Thor's arc of accepting humility and becoming worthy (with a bit of Shang Chi on the side), it was for Hela to understand what a "life" truly means, thus becoming merciful, THUS becoming the Goddess of Life. Also, im not sure if people bring this up, but I love how Hela got BOTH of their younger brothers character journeys at the same time. Thor's journey of reobtaining his power through living as a mortal, as well as Loki's inner journey and interrogation during his first episode of "You become the King of Space. What then?"

Minute 7:40 7:43, Imagine if Fenris was even a birthday present 🎂🎁, that would make it sadder that Hela felt bad for her poor wolf 🐺🥺 when her father chained him up ⛓️, Hela, more than seeing Fenris as her war pet, was her best friend (a classic characteristic of the Disney princesses who have an animal companion), it was clear that she had a genuine affection for him ❤️ (7:37), and since Hela was a girl in that scene, she obviously refused to believe that her wolf would hurt her father 👨‍👧.

Minute 11:54 I would have made it so that the blow of the rings was so powerful that it split Odin's helmet in two and even left him disoriented 🫨. (13:06) And when Hela (with her powers back and transformed into The Benevolent Goddess of Death) returned Gungnir's attack, giving him a dose of his own medicine, I would put the attack to be such that Odin ended up with his armor destroyed and parts of his body burned 🤕 (just like in the animated movie Thor Tales os Asgard).

Like many others, I'm already tired of the typical villain who seeks power for no logical reason. With this alternate history, Hela can easily be labeled as a “Tragic Villain” (and later a redeemed villainous goddess), since everything she experienced in her past and what her father ordered her to do turned her into the goddess of death that we met in Thor Ragnarok.
