Johnny, go to the hardware store, buy a nut splitter with a large enough diameter to settle over the Ears on the front sight. Flatten the tip of the splitter shaft and you have a perfect site blade shifter for the Kar.31. Pierre St. Marie Swiss Products USA

Love the vid. If you take measurements of the GP11 bullet designed by the Swiss for these rifles, there are drastic differences between it and what is available for reloading this cartridge. Effectively, all that is available is a .308 bullet with a nominal diameter larger than that of GP11 ammo. This definitely will impact chamber pressures. All of my 7.5 Swiss rifles shoot more accurately with GP11. Any commercially available ammo like PPU out there uses a standard .308 bullet as well. It isn't optimal. I'm down to my last 100 rounds of GP11. Makes me sad. There is some content out there with people smarter than me who properly explain why all of that matters.
@givemethemusicd9 күн бұрын
If I recall it is 306 forward of the cannelure. There is a small portion at 308. The theory is that impacts the pressure curve differently. I'd love to see you run some accuracy tests surrounding this theory.

If you don't like that ring from your seating stem, you can also take your dremel with some polish and a polishing tip ( kinda the shape of a projectile) , and I polish the s*** out of it and I never get the ring.

This dude gave me confidence when I started out. First bullets I bought ended up having no load data to speak of, and of course my barrels seemingly had the tightest throats ever made lol. I was able to think my way through the process and be safe. 2 years and about 10 caliber die sets later, I can churn out proper rounds with just about anything that lands on my bench!
@kothliim64299 күн бұрын
@@CrashRacknShoot I got tired of factory loads not being in the grian I wanted(75gr vmax for a 6Creed) so I finally bit the bullet and bought all the stuff I'd need. Did the measuring, including chamber etc, and picked a test load. 45gr of Superformance had bullets touching for me, and it's a varmint nightmare.

Same here. That “Light Recoil .38 Special” video from back in the day is the best new-handloader tutorial on KZbin.
@CrashRacknShoot9 күн бұрын
@@kothliim6429that right there, making the tool you need for the job, is *exactly* why reloading rocks! Tailoring ammo specifically to your gun and to the project at hand, be it varmint, target, hunting, defense, etc. You can make the ideal round for pennies on the dollar. And the coolest part is that whatever you come up with can either be recreations of factory ammo but better, or it can be bespoke rounds you won't find anywhere on the market. It's just as much art as it is science. The perfect tinkerer's hobby.

DONT WORRY about the things you worry about in the videos. Its good to hear you working out your concerns and mistakes. There is a lot of learning in that. And don't worry about the camera or sound. It is really good! And because you talk about what you are doing while you are doing it then nothing is lost if it's a bit out of focus for a second. Just make videos about what you think is fun. The shotgun thing was really good. The 38/357 was fun. The reloading for super cheap was fun. Whatever you are doing it is fun to watch. You DONT NEED TO PICK unique or "special" topics because you are why we are here and we learn every time.
@SnarkyPosters8 күн бұрын

Maybe we are going to have a good year since JRB is back, and honesty has returned. I would like to point out one thing about the K31. It has the latest 7.5x55 chamber, that is quite different than the previous Swiss models. The K31 has a .3063" freebore, and we are feeding the rifle with .308" bullets. The G11 bullet is a tapered shank design with the forward end of the "shank" being .306" and the rear about .3075" +/-. Thus the .308 bullets hit the beginning of the freebore instead of the lands. The G11 bullet can be seated longer due to its tapered shank. Both the G11 and straight shank bullets get swaged down as they are fired. This very tight arrangement is one of the reasons the K31 is so inherently accurate, but the G11 taper shank requires a certain type of crimp that most of us cannot reproduce. With straight shank bullets there is no way to chase the lands (so to speak), what happens is we chase the freebore erosion. There is little to worry about when seating the bullet to touching the beginning of the freebore since the initial bullet movement is just swaging the bullet to .3065" before it hits the lands. Normal land wear is to be expected.

You're the reason I got started reloading and the reason I haven't blown my face off. Really happy to see a new video from you. Start some kind of merchandise for sale to make it worth your time or promote patreon, subscribe star or something so your loyal watchers can help offset the cost of powder, bullets and primers and hopefully enough extra to get new stuff and gadgets for the channel. We will make it worth you time. New MK262 video with some of the new offerings would be cool.
