Another Toronto Subway Shutdown | Shuttle Bus Route Walk (June 2024)

I was making my way to downtown Toronto when we were booted off the subway at St Clair Station for another service disruption. Shuttle Buses were running but I opted to walk down Yonge Street to Rosedale. I end up taking the train 1 stop and transferring at Bloor-Yonge Station to line 2.

The type of bus in your thumbnail is one I drove a lot in my final years of my bus driving career, the Orion VII OG Hybrid bus. Built in 2006, it was Canada’s first hybrid-electric bus. The fleet of them are currently being retired.

It's a shame you didn't drive the old school GM Fishbowls. I grew up riding them and they were fun since the floor was high and flat. No accessibility features but they were just great to sit in the back of.

@@laughingkor8643 The TTC is chronically underfunded and understaffed - this is unlikely to change in the near future. Toronto's finances were already in trouble before the pandemic, even tax hikes now will not be enough to make the TTC a world-class service.

@@laughingkor8643 Many of the stations need upgrading but both the buses and trains are among the cleanest and safest in North America.

@@Alsatiagent-zu1rxWe are much cleaner and safer than the subway in Montreal and NYC. As Gaby pointed out, yes the TTC has flaws and still needs funding from upper levels of government from all the years of financial difficulties.

@@laughingkor8643you must have gotten on one train or bus on a bad day… I would have to say the TTC is probably one of the cleanest compared to all the other busy cities with a metro subway system.

I live right on St Clair and Dufferin.... I was pretty upset trying to get back home from North York centre, shift ended at 12 am and the shuttle buses are a headache but necessary. Anyway, love your content JS!

The TTC's subways are always shutdown every Saturdays to substitute it with shuttle buses. 😥
