We got this 1975 Z1900 in on trade for some work we did on a friend's H2. It came to us in pretty bad condition, as you can see in the video. Our goal here was to put together an affordable every day rider that wouldn't leave you stranded on the side of the road. This bike has 23,000 miles on it. See our Ebay auction now live for more info: www.ebay.com/itm/163644988948

First time viewer. Not here for the full restore, so I skipped ahead here and there. Really just here for the trip down memory lane... This was one of if not the original 4 stroke, inline 4, Japanese super bikes. I had a 1979 KZ-1000 that was built up pretty good, but this is the grand daddy... awesome job, guys! :)

If I were to win I would want a Euro-style lower steering bar, a 4-1 exhaust (as the exhausts that are on it now are not the originals anyway), a seat cover, and I would want the frame to be power coated. Love this channel and love to see these old beasts get some TLC Following the auction.

As usual, a very interesting video. Shame the frame didn't receive some minor rust removal and a bit of paint once everything was out, though. Still, very nice to see you get these bikes back on the road in workable condition instead of building trailer-queens!

i use the s 100 also ,but i buy it by the gallon ,and pour it into one of those small ,hand held ,pump up bug sprayer,,sure saves your hands..pulling that trigger over and over starts to cramp up the old mits..better to pump about 20 times ,then you just pull the trigger one time ,.and it comes out in a stream ..

I wonder what it sold for? I like that its a runner and not a trailer queen. I could handle owning it. Run around on it and then first winter strip it to get the frame painted, but that's all, turn it into a bike you can improve and restore while you ride.

@@Johnnysvintage Oh well then everyone is happy eh? Someone got a good bike for a reasonable price. Over-restored trailer queens aren't my scene, but thats ok for other people, I like runners, my friends kz650 I bought off him will have its original wheels unrestored, but thats ok since I first rode it back in 77 ! " Too good to ride " is not for me. Keep doing what your'e doing how you're doing it and you won't go wrong.

NO, never !!...this bike sold for $7500, he charges a minimum $5500 JUST for labor to do the restoration so that's $13,000 then you have to pay for all the vapor blasting, re-chroming, powder coating, normal paint (tank, tail, panels) and PARTS, every seal, gasket, tires, spokes, the list is endless and anything rubber will have perished, plus you'll never buy a bike 100% complete to start with so you'll need to find and buy those missing parts that match your bike, the correct exhausts, air-filter, wheels, headlamp, clocks etc, etc..... you could end up spending near $18k total for a 1975 Z1b that will NEVER be worth that !!!, plus all the aggravation, discussion, time waiting, worry, honestly take your money and buy the bike in the condition you want it in and leave it in that condition !!

@@Johnnysvintage ok that sounds good. I've been planning to do a build for quite some time now and just haven't been able to find a decent enough bike to start with. Im actually wanting a kz 1000 but a z 900 would probably do. I am shopping around to find a solid piece but haven't been very lucky. So I'll try to bid on it and see how it goes. If I don't get it, I will need help in finding something worth while for my build. I will stay in touch and will be looking forward for your help. Thanks alot for your time. Scott.

The rear wheel is slightly turning when you gassed it on the stand. Is that a concern? Probably just a few finger-twists of the clutch adjustment?
@64faffi
@64faffi 5 жыл бұрын
It is caused by drag that makes the gearbox spin even when in neutral. Virtually every motorcycle has this issue. In gear, with a wet clutch pulled, you are guaranteed to get drag from the oil film that will turn the wheel. However, it doesn't take much friction to stop the wheel - a toe or a hand on the wheel will stop it from turning.

People ask is it worth getting a bike restored, I would say NO, NO and thrice NO, do the math, here's why, this bike sold for $7500 on eBay, he charges a minimum $5500 JUST for labor to do the restoration so that's $13,000 then you have to pay for all the vapor blasting, re-chroming, powder coating, normal paint (tank, tail, panels) and PARTS, that means every seal, gasket, worn sprocket, damaged clutch/ gearbox /engine parts, tires, stainless spokes, the list is endless and probably anything rubber will have perished, plus you'll never buy a bike 100% complete to start with so you'll need to find and buy those missing parts that match your bike, the correct exhausts, air-filter, wheels, headlamp, clocks etc, etc..... you could end up spending near $18k total for this 1975 Z1b that would NEVER be worth that right now !!!, plus all the aggravation, discussion, time waiting, worry, honestly take your money and buy the bike in the condition you want it in and leave it in that condition !!
