Nice video, thanks My conclusion is that they are exactly the same, same factory, same components, you are paying for the Yamaha name with the blue one, that's it. It would cost more to have a different assembly run than it is worth IMO. Day shift cranks out Yamaha and night shift cranks out the other.

I believe it’s more about longevity with these two, the Yamaha powered will probably last a lot longer because of it’s quality.
@johnnysweekends3 жыл бұрын
I would agree with that, but for the most part when I see these die or when viewers reply the thing that dies is the ability to put out power. So for the most a electrical issue is the cause and probably the inverter board that has failed I would assume.

When you ran both generators it did double the sound. The way the logarithmic decibel scale works, every 3 dB change is equivalent to doubling the energy of the noise. You went from about 61 to 63.5 which is nearly doubling the energy.

I don't own one of these generators, but all of my "American branded" lawn equipment has Chinese made engines. I have been using them for almost 12 years and they are still running great. My biggest concern with buying an unrecognized brand product is that parts may not be available when needed. Other than that, if the reviews are good I would have no issues with the Chinese made engine.

I’m a small engine mechanic. It doesn’t matter if they look similar or run similar when new. Spend the $200!! If taken care of, your Yamaha engine will last the rest of YOUR life. The Chinese knock-off will not have the quality internals or precise clearances required for longevity.

Walmart has the Yamaha version for $ 500 (we just got one as a backup) so maybe not that much difference out of pocket too. I remember some years back 10 or so when I first saw a south Korean made Honda Trail 70 in Miami. So after S. Korea got the blueprints out of Japan for the Honda QA 50, and the CT 70's it was only a matter of time for more blueprints to find there way out of Japan. At the end of the day or in this case a few years the generator with that Yamaha name on it will be worth more I believe, then again not much last no matter the brand/name it seems.

Great video! I own the Yamaha 2000, and have worked on a friend's I-Power 2000 (with Yamaha engine) when it needed a carb cleaning. Absolutely amazing how the small inverter gen market has all copied each other over and over. It seems to be mostly a marketing approach, and price point. Speaking of which, I would like to see a comparison of the Generac 3000 or 3300, against the same Craftsman 3000 or 3300 inverter gens. The Craftsman is made by Generac. They have 99-100% identical specs on watts, engine, and weight. But the Craftsman is typically listed for about $100 more!! Either way, they seem to have some of the highest KW ratings for "suitcase" style inverter gens.

Yes for the most part a lot of these are the same. Yamaha I think just decided to sell a lot of engines to who ever wants them. But they have done this for years even when I worked in the watercraft industry they sold jet ski engines to other manufacturers. So it’s nothing new but I don’t see a exact copy of a Honda to be honest. At first I thought there was copies but no. The generac and craftsman’s will also be the same but a different case but sometimes the electronics will be different like different features and maybe different inverter board allowing more power. I will try and add those to the list…👍🏼 Thanks for the comment and thanks again for watching 👍🏼😀

The only problem with clone engines is that the metals used may not be the same quality than the original engine, so if the Yamaha runs for 2000 hours with little to no wear, the clone may be worn out at the same time with the same oil due to low quality metals in the internals of the engine.

Yea it’s possible. I don’t have any doubts in either engine but I think the electronics will be the first to. But one thing in all these comments I don’t think I have seen anyone really say they have a lot or any issues with the Aipower gens.

Does anyone own these..? Or are you looking to buy? Which one will you get after seeing this?

I own the Yamaha. I am curious if you can parallel the blue and red together. After watching this, I suspect the answer is yes.
@johnnysweekends3 жыл бұрын
Yup you can parallel alot more then you think as long as its compatible or parallel ready like these Yamaha aipower models

As an owner of a power sports business I can say with complete confidence that the Japanese motor is 100x better in every single way than the non Japanese knockoff .

Awesome, did you tear them down ? What did you find different? Cranks or bearings, pistons the same or cylinder?

C'mon now, you claim to be located in the 2nd sunniest city in the nation yet your plates are California. Second sunniest city in the U.S. is not in Calif so, shame on you (unless of course your RV is registered in Calif and you live in Phonix!). ;-) Great work on the video, useful feedback on dBs (hard to find good vids on this feature) for these gens.

Thank you glad you like the video. And I’m not lying on second sunniest, it may surprise you….😉👍🏼

You should’ve pointed the gun away from the extension cord because that will cause problems for the generator drawling power
