Sportster Iron 883 FP3 Map and AutoTune Setup with Test Ride

Wondering how to use the Vance and Hines FP3 Tuner? In this video I step through how to set up your exhaust map, and how to use the AutoTune. I then take my Harley Sportster for a ride to make sure the readings are showing correctly.
The two maps that I used in this video are:

Sup bro...just installed my FP3 on my 883! Did a 2inch tank lift, wire tuck, relocation of coil and ignition, 826 Outlaw A/C etc etc....

I plan on doing a 2 inch tank lift too. What pipe are you running and what fp3 map? I'm sticking with the no baffle map, it runs good 🤙

@@kevlarxkoffee Right now I am running Vance and Hines Twin Slash Slip On. I didn't do anything to the baffles. So on my FP3 I mapped it according to my set up.

Hey buddy, I have a 883 with Vance and Hines Big Radius pipes and the Arlen Ness Monster air Sucker. The VH FP3 makes a huge difference once you tune it in. My bike is wicked loud and pulls like crazy. I’ll end up putting the Hoagland kit next year for sure. Anything above that the frame is too weak for long distance riding.

I spent maybe $700 on my stage 1. A full, complete, and very noticeable stage 1. The only thing I got on sale were the slip ons. Got them for $255 total from Dennis Kirk. Got everything else from DK Customs. 587 high flow air cleaner, black anodized breather bolts, x-vied fuel management device (no tuner) this saves a ton of $$$. If you’re only doing a stage 1, like myself, then you only need to adjust the air/fuel ratio. The vied devices do that. The ones for the iron 883, my bike, are adjustable. Also different from most stage ones is that I removed the blowback of crankcase gases into my air intake and installed the breather bolts in their place. I don’t have any dyno numbers but I can feel a huge difference in literally everything about the bike. More torque, better throttle response, sound of course, probably more hp, can’t really feel that and I don’t get out and do 100mph so…..idk. I can’t verify anything but I rode the bike stock for almost a year and I know how it rode and felt and it’s a different bike now. Oh, and whatever you do replace those shocks! Single best mod I ever made was replacing the shocks. I used drag specialties adjustable shocks but I would recommend you get the best your budget allows and price doesn’t always reflect quality! Check out DK Customs they test out everything they sell. IMO best place to go for Harley mods.

The first week, I was getting stronger by pushing around the bike and learning to balance it. I feel pretty comfortable on it now. Just keep at it and take it to the streets 🤙

The autotune helped because that's not the map for your exhaust, that's a map for Vance&Hines Comp-s exhaust, for TBR they have a 2into1 map but not sure for which version of the exhaust it is. I am getting this exhaust too and I'm waiting to see which map works better to begin with, then polish it off with the autotune. Cheers.

I know this is your old bike. But I have the same exact setup with the stage 1. I ran the auto tune and bike ran worse. A lot of error codes with running rich in the front and lean etc. I used the no baffles. I also, did automatic for 200+ miles all kinds of rev limits too.

Same. I ran the auto tune and it didn't run too good, so I switched back to one of the 2-into-1 maps and it was running good. Maybe it takes a few auto tunes and to do it longer? I just didn't keep trying haha 🤙

Have the same setup as you, 2bros exhaust and highflow intake. I did the same map as you as well; Did you notice a low responsiveness in throttle right when you blip it? I have not autotuned maybe this will fix it?

Hey! Other than the pipes and the tune have you done anything else to the bike to affect its performance? Asking because I have an iron 883 as well but yours seems to have more top end speed!

2-into-1 pipes will have better performance, but I also adjusted the throttle body butterfly to open up fully when giving it throttle. You'll have to take off the air filter. Give it a try. It's easy 🤙

They want you to use harleys tuner and have them tune it for you, so you can give them more of your money.

Yes, after the tune you can remove the fp3. I suggest leaving it on. It's married to your bike so no one else can use it, and if any problems come up while riding, you can access it through the app and make adjustments 🤙
