It's become my life mantra. I'm still sad the mv isn't for the entire song though, that missing second verse is so important imo. 💜

The voice in your head is with you all the time. It's the most impactful to your psyche, above all others. If you make a point of saying loving things to yourself, you do more healing and encouragement than anything you can hear from outside of yourself. Whenever I find myself saying something negative in my head, I immediately switch to a mantra of "you're awesome", "you've got this", "you're beautiful", "I believe in you" - it works! The brain is a powerful thing.

John, you said you wish you found BTS in 2018 and that was exactly when I found them. I had just moved from the Chicago area to NW Arkansas to help take care of my retired parents...I literally knew no one but them, I was able to keep my job & work remotely, but for that concession I was moved to a night shift that also included mandatory OT 6 hr shifts every other weekend which meant when people my age were working I was off & when everyone my age got off work & did stuff outdoors, went out to bars, etc., I was working or was making sure all was OK with my folks. I knew no one my age & I was renting an apartment near a local college so all my neighbors were college students & I was a 47 year old with nothing in common with them. I happened to catch BTS on GMA & wasn't really paying much attention, but heard one of the hosts ask about the speech at the UN & I thought what were these young kids in crazy suits doing at the UN? As I Googled from my phone who exactly they were the show came back from commercial break & the boys performed IDOL live...I freaking lost my mind & immediately started down the BTS rabbit hole & have never looked back. They say BTS finds you when you need them most & it was definitely a time I needed to believe in something good. I was lonely, was really getting down on myself, I was questioning if my move South was a mistake even though I knew one of us needed to be here closer to my folks. BTS helped me learn to love myself again & as I got a brighter attitude I did better at work, the better work was noticed & I got a promotion which included a raise & a move back to day shifts & 1 OT weekend per month. That allowed me to buy a house 15 mins from my folks & have time to get out and meet people. I now have a much healthier work, life, friends, caregiver balance & I really feel it was BTS that initiated it. I probably still spend way too much time by myself, but what can I say, I'm a pretty awesome person to be with! Lol 😊

Epiphany: And to think Jin never had any amateur & professional singing background before he got casted off the streets. Actually practically all 7 of them, from zero singing experience (except maybe karaoke, heh), to now being beloved by tens of millions. It was a skill & talent that was just waiting to happen, which maybe that is an epiphany in & of itself. So it's definitely a rock ballad with not just emotion, but also depth.

Yes sir John! BTS found my entire family in the middle of the pandemic. Initially, i was very skeptical but found my way into the BTS rabbit 🐇 hole ( thanks to my daughter & wife ). Best thing to happen….ever!!! I truly believe that if more westerners would give BTS a chance, listen to their music….the world 🌎 would be a much better place. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I became ARMY IN 2018. Airplane pt2 comeback show JK caught me off guard when I was " just wanting to know their names " for the concert I was attending in Sept with my ARMY daughter . I saw Jk and said " oh no , I'm in trouble " lol fast forward 4 months later to the concert and I officially became ARMY that night! Magic Shop is the song that made me ARMY 💜 I am a mom of 5 and in the fall of 2018 my youngest and last child started kindergarten and I was a SAHM and I found myself wondering what my purpose was . I was quite down and felt like I wasn't doing anything to contribute to my family with having no kids at home for the first time in almost 19 years . BTS gave me something to look forward to and a safe space for me. They also created a bind with my then 14 year old . She was very depressed and BTS gave her a reason to keep going and me becoming ARMY gave us a reason to talk and share and just learn to love ourselves for who we are no matter the situation . For me it was BTS's Butterfly. Heard it once and I was completely mesmerized by the lyrics, the concept, the theme, and everything there is to know about the story that song was intertwined in. From there I started in a whole journey of discovering their other songs and MVs.

My bias is Yoongi, but I have to be honest. If I ever get a tattoo, it's probably going to read "not so perfect, but so beautiful." I ugly-cried the first time I heard that line. And (not to get preachy, here) Epiphany deepened my faith-- it made me realize that, hey, that "love your neighbor" commandment has TWO parts, and the core of it is loving (and forgiving) yourself before you can bring that love to others. Here's a challenge for you, fellow ARMYs: learn to love yourself as much as you love Bangtan. You're worth it. 💜

My favorite BTS song from 2018 is Singularity. When I was introduced to BTS by my daughter, she made me listen to them in the car and told me who was singing which part of the song. After a while, she started to ask if I learned to recognize them by their voices. That was the time I got fascinated by Taehyung's voice. I had to search videos of them to get faces to those voices and found Singularity. Its mood and lyrics hit me very hard. It is still my most played song in my playlists. I love all of their songs very much. 💜

I got interested in BTS thanks to Idol, literally I was just passing by when my cousin (a hard-core cool Army) was streaming Idol, I liked the rhythm and approached, I knew nothing about them but when I bent down to watch, JK (I didn't knew it was him then) mercilessly flashed me with his smile while dancing and from then on there was no turning back, I became an Army there and then and JK became my bias without me even knowing his name, it was a revelation xD the power of the lyrics, the choreography, the rhythm, everything, they caught me and never again let me go and I'm not mad about it! Not one bit. I literally had a hard time at the beginning telling them appart, I recognized RM first, then JK, JiMin, V, Suga and took me a while longer to tell JHope and Jin appart, but today I can tell them appart just looking at their hands xD gosh I swear I'll stand by their side forever! Literally stole my heart irrevocably!

John, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts about loving yourself with us. I think you are being such a good role model for other people by saying this out loud. I'm 57. I'm much better at loving myself than I was but I also do the same thing. It's a message for everybody to hear. I used to tell my girls, when they were young, you have to love yourself more than anybody else. Because only when you truly love yourself can you share love with other people. It is so much easier to be generous when you feel overflowing with love yourself. I used to tell them this thinking that I would have liked to hear that when I was a child 🙂

Our longest and most important friend is ourselves. I'm the only person I spend every second of my life with, so I should be good terms with myself. I should learn to know and love myself since I am with myself in every situation, every good and bad moment. The only person I can count on 100% to be with me and be sure of. If you found them around that time like myself, then you would be thinking to yourself that you have now somehow been an ARMY for 5 years and wonder how this much time could have already gone by in general and since you had gotten into them lol! It was actually on New Years Eve going from 2017 into 2018 when BTS performed on the Rockin' New Years Eve program when I saw and heard of BTS for the first time. They performed Mic Drop and I thought wow who is this?! Fast forward to Spring 2018 when I waited to watch the premiere of both Fake Love and Singularity! I feel rather lucky to have this as memories and it felt pretty exciting at the time even though I wish that I had found them even sooner.

However Jin's own version is on their new album and I'm dying to hear it! 😱 (Drops June 10th, with a free online concert "with a special guest" on their debut date June 13th.) - Jin has hit a G5# live, full-on belting, without even going into breathy falsetto, in his famous triple high note in Crystal Snow. - Epiphany has literally saved the lives of so many people, mine included. I've seen grown men and women cry when they first heard it. It's message has pulled people out of some very dark thoughts and situations and/or inspired them to change their circumstances. - Epiphany is also very important to the guys themselves and Suga even named it as his favorite BTS song once. The Love Yourself series goes through three stages of love "Love Yourself: Her" (serendipity, euphoria)- The feelings of butterflies when you like someone or when you first start a relationship "Love Yourself: Tear"(singularity)- The downfall of a relationship. Changing yourself for someone else. Feeling trapped and hurt "Love Yourself: Answer" (epiphany)- Realizing you can't love someone else until you fully love and accept yourself Rania Bhasin said on 12/27/22 Singularity, Serendipity, Epiphany and Euphoria are all written to coexist together and explaining different parts/stages of relationships (not necessarily just with a significant other etc but also with friendships, family and oneself). They are part of the Love Yourself series which is broken up into 3 different albums (serendipity is on “HER”, singularity is on “TEAR” euphoria and epiphany on “ANSWER”) hence why the vibes can be seen as continuous or similar in some aspects musically.
