There are three important things to do to protect your assets and make sure that your insurance company works for you.
First, ask if the other driver has made a demand to settle the case.
Second, make sure you ask your insurance company lawyer how much the demand was for.
Third, make sure you let them know that you want the case to settle so your personal assets are not at risk.
The insurance you have only covers so much. This is called policy limits. If the injuries you cause are more than your policy limits, and your insurance company isn’t settling the case, the injured party can go after your personal assets, like bank accounts or your home.

I was just in an accident and I was at fault. I keep worrying I will get sued for emotional distress or something even though nobody was hurt just to get money out of me. we live in a lawsuit happy world. My insurance is paying for everything. would people still have grounds to sue me?

If you have insurance, your carrier would likely defend you if you were sued. Also many people are injured in crashes but don’t realize it until long after the incident. They have grounds to sue you because you were negligent and caused a crash.

Im watching this video because i saw a video where a criminal carjacked someone and total the car and other people's cars too. In a just world, the person that done wrong take accountablity and reversing the damage, buy the same car(of course not brand new). But cars expensive and criminals dont have the money, why else would they had they carjack someone. But then again, there are teenages in america, just carjack people for fun even though their parents are loaded with money.

Minor car damage, doesn’t mean minor injuries. You shouldn’t assume they aren’t hurt, simply because there isn’t much property damage. I’ve had many cases with catastrophic injuries and little to no property damage. The answer to your question is in the video.

If they ask for 50 thousand and your coverage is 50 thousand and the insurance is willing to pay that, does that mean they can’t come back and sue you personally for more, even if you have a good job where they could garnish your wages? Thanks.

The situation I am in is complex. I am not 100% at fault, and instructed my lawyer provided though my insurance company that I want the demand paid if it's with in my policy limits. When would it be a good idea to hire my own lawyer?

I don't think it is. I'd talk to your insurance. Usually when they settle they're not able to go after you.

I was in a accident about a year ago I didn't have insurance plead guilty. Now the other party insurance is trying to collect or suing me for money. I going to talk to a lawyer about that it seems to that the insurance don't want to pay their share or there obligations. My thinking is why the customer is paying them if they don't want pay. Hello sir thank you for your video. Recently I was involved in a mvc where a motorcycle which was being ridden by 2 juveniles and a 19 yr old crash into the vehicle I was driving head on. The. Vehicle I was driving belong to my mother. It is a brand new lease vehicle. The situation here is that she was unaware that the insurance coverage on the vehicle had lapsed. Obviously I had no idea either, I found out later in the day when I call the insurance company and they informed me of her negative status. What are some of the options here?? Can I or her sue the perpetrators?? Would the district attorney's office offer me some type of assistance or compensation to get the car fix ?? The insurance coverage on her vehicle has been reinstated however, the lapsed in coverage for the day of the accident still remains. Can the insurance company still cover this being that I was not at fault.?? I would appreciate any advice you may have in this matter. Thank you again for your great videos.

You’re claiming that you’re self insured you’d be legally liable and would look very stupid not having coverage there’s no negotiating and no insurance is obligated to defend the company simply because you didn’t want to pay for the $300 premium
