The Fallout series masterfully pulls off some really cool “monkeys paw” story telling. Lucy and Maximus both achieve their goal at the end of the season. Lucy finds her father. And Max becomes a knight. But neither of them get what they were expecting. Lucy’s father turns out to be a villain, and Max realizes the Brotherhood isn’t what he thought they were.

Chris Evans has always been a better actor than people credit him. Equating box office performance and/or draw with acting ability is a road to ruin for a discussion point. The films themselves aren't always great, but he often puts in better performances than the films deserve. But check him out in 'Puncture', 'Sunshine', 'Before We Go', 'Defending Jacob', 'Pain Hustlers', and of course, 'Snowpiercer'. He also got good notices in 'Lobby Hero' on Broadway. I'm with Shannon that he was one of the stronger actors throughout the MCU, giving Cap quiet dignity and resolve amongst the showiness, bombast, and obvious (if effective) comedy of so many in the whole shebang. I look forward to seeing what he does as he ages.

As rocha said maximus is the player character. When you play these games you want to be lucy or the ghoul of the world but then someone shows you a super cool power armour and you're like, ok I'll join this faction even if their morals are a bit dubious. 100% agree with rocha he's a survivor, extremely emotionally naive because he knows nothing more, and by the time he finds something better it's taken away from him.

I can’t believe two of the guys thought Maximus was the weakest character. He is the character I root for the most because he is the most real and human of all the characters. He wants to be a hero want and be good guy, but is doing morally bad things to survive to be that hero. Maybe because the two that didn’t like the Maximus character are professional Hollywood writers and wanted something more cliche, concise and obvious that you get with the Ghoul and Lucy. One is the typical badass out for vengeance and the other is the fish out of water discovering the dark truth about this world. We have seen this storyline many times before, it is the Maximus storyline that is doing something new, because he is on the typical hero’s journey, but at the end of journey he becomes the big hero he always dreamed about, but discovers at the same time he is actually the villain and is at conflict with his personal morals and those of the woman he loves Lucy. That has far more epic pathos than the other characters. For me the Ghoul is the weakest lead character. I love the character when Walton Goggins is in human form, the Ghoul I find boring and predictable. You know whatever the bad situation the Ghoul is in, he will do something badass to get out it. And there is no real jeopardy to the character because you can shoot him and he can survive. If it wasn’t for the pre-ghoul flashbacks, I would have no interest in this character, because it seems they have taken unused scripts from West World and inserted the Man In Black into this series. Lucy is the heart and humour of the show. Ella Purnell’s performance is laugh out loud funny and people say women can’t be funny, especially good looking women. I think the two funniest performances I have seen on screen in 2024 is Ella in this show and Rosamund Pike in Saltburn.

Rocha when you went down the list of actors that popped up - you forgot to mention Erik Estrada as the lead farmer father who’s sons were wrapped up with Moldaver. I loved the whole series and really enjoyed all of the stunt casting Easter eggs!

Maximus is easily my favourite character. His character is the most interesting and his journey is the least obvious whereas The Ghoul and Lucy, while great, are pretty easy to predict and are fairly standard archetypes. Maximus has a variety of different interesting character traits throughout the show. I loved all the scenes with him and Thaddeus.

Yeah.. I thought Max was the most interesting character because he had a true arc and was in the most danger. The Ghoul was fun, but he was an archetype I feel I’ve seen a dozen times. I really liked Lucy. She was a fun character we don’t see much these days, but again we could predict she would get hardened and street wiser by the end.

Who heartedly agree with John and the Maximus character…love the Lucy and Ghoul character story and arch but we all seen those before…Maximus character and journey is different…you dont really get him…like whats his deal…he wants to protect but also hurt ppl that hurt ppl…and he’s a bit naïve…also i dont think he knows his place in the world or who he is or where he belongs which is great…his arch isnt as quick or clear as the other characters but like a muddy and slow burn…

I love that this show expected a lot of its audience. It didn't spoon feed us information and bore us with lengthy exposition. It just told a fantastic story while building a fantastic world and it was on us to figure it out.

Yeah..Max to me had a more compelling story than the Ghoul. I can’t think of a storyline I’ve seen similar to his. He takes the role of the knight he is supposed to serve and is essentially on the run from the very organization he wants so dearly to be part of… only to find the Brotherhood was a farce.

Trap looks dope. I love M. Night. He sometimes misses. But even his misses are unique at least. And that tv show he produced was great. Wayward Pines. And hey, maybe we are cheering for the villian. Surely a twist. Im all for it. Ill be there day one.

I think in the alternate universe/timeline the F4 start in, Shalla Bal is the Silver Surfer. However, in the universe/timeline the F4 end up in at the end of the movie, Norrin Radd is the Silver Surfer.

I snubbed my nose at the fallout games because I don’t like games that are that in depth and time consuming. But this show hooked me real quick and I love the lore they created. I spent hours watching videos breaking down the history of this world and will definitely get into the games….

Opposite sides here: The 'Transformers One' trailer didn't work for me at all. I like exploring the early relationship of Optimus and Megatron, and I like the animation. But the voices and the humor were a complete miss. The 'Hit Man' trailer did work for me. I agree that I'm neutral on Glenn Powell, but this looks like a fun romp for him. And Adria Arjona is all spice in this. They look like they'll work well off of each other, and the sex is dancing off the screen. Plus, it's Linklater. I'm in. As for 'Trap', it is a fascinating concept. Here's hoping Shyamalan doesn't give into his worst impulses.

But Rocha, haven't you seen BBC2's 'The Fall' starring Jamie Dornan & Gillian Anderson? The show was still riveting even though it followed the serial killer & ultimately invited the viewer on some level to understand him. 'The Trap' seems to have adopted a similar angle. I don't mind the antagonist being the star. I can't remember if Patrick Bateman in 'American Psycho' got his comeuppance, but they usually do in the end.

Fallout was amazing, the way everything wrapped up in the finale was incredible. Gave me huge Lost vibes throughout which is perfect for me because thats my favourite show of all time. I agree with Vogel though that Maximus' story was definitely the least interesting, I did not like him at first. By the end though I'd come around on his story.

I disagree. I started off not caring about Maximus’s story, but after he got the armor it became the only storyline I felt I didn’t know where it was going and was intriguing. We knew the Ghoul would end up being an anti-hero and we knew Lucy would end up wiser and more jaded. But we didn’t know if Maximus would abandon the brotherhood or sell out Lucy to advance himself within the brotherhood. His final scene at the end and the conversation with the leader of the brotherhood was the most shocking thing in the show.

Maximus story would have been 1000% more interesting if he DID sabotage his fellow applicant and friends foot/boot. Like Shannon is saying the struggle between doing bad things (to get ahead) and the right thing is an interesting struggle & duality for his character to take.

Transformers trailers was caca. THERE IS NO ROLE CHRIS EVANS HAS DONE THAT GLEN POWELL CANT DO. I don’t know wth Michael and Shannon are talkin about. Love superhero movies but thas not where we judge acting. Can you elevate your ability with them? Yes, they aren’t the floor for acting ability. M nights new movie looks good but the thing I like most is he has a Tarantino type quality around his movies that make em seem like they’re all in the same world.
