Any more kayaking videos John. I've not laughed since I first watched this last year. Maybe try below Salts Weir opposite the boathouse. I think it's clear until Kirkstall Abbey 👍🏻

Great video. Looking forward to seeing more on the water. Can't believe that was your first time!

I fish the stretch you visited. Be really careful as the environment changes monthly. Lots of huge trees come down in flood water and become trapped. Carry a puncture repair kit 😉

Don’t know if you have one but a PFD and a paddle leash would be a couple of good purchases. Great first paddle!

Thanks Tim. I am currently ordering both items. Thanks for the advice.

@@MrJohnHanslip Definitely get the PFD, that stretch of the aire can get really dangerous and fast flowing after rain. I wouldn't go anywhere near it if the rain was heavy. Don't want to get swept down a weir!

you dont use pabble leashes on a river
@timsytanker2 жыл бұрын
@@paulward248 why’s that? All rivers are different.

@@timsytanker you dont know whats under the water ifyour paddle gets stuck in anything or the leash tangles when you capsize your on your own no paddle to help you and a boat stuck leashes are for sea kayaks

I looks like you drift to right a lot when you stop paddling. I have the same with my Sevylor Hudson and when I checked underneath there was a bulge where I think I over inflated it so might be a good idea to check that the bottom is even when you inflate it next. Something else that's essential to take with you is a good length of rope to moor yourself when you want to stop for a break or get out.

Good idea, thanks Steve.

"A castle over the River Aire? No, this is part of the Nidd aqueduct for Yorkshire Water. It was built during the late 19th century and brings water from Nidderdale all the way to Bradford"

Ah excellent knowledge sir. I will look that up.

I am now fully researched on the Nidd Aquaduct system from Scarhouse to the flying saucers of Chellow Dene (a Bradford landmark). I couldn't get my head around the aquaduct part of it all, now I understand its a bridge that carries a pipe. Amazing that all our Bradford water comes from here. Going to do this trip again tomorrow with the whole family. But the whole water delivery system is quite an achievement. Cheers Jonathan.
