Taipei is one of the great food destinations of Asia and the world! When I first visited Taiwan four years ago one of the most appealing things I first discovered walking around the city was listening to the sounds and getting wonderful aromas of food cooking everywhere. From little alleys where you can find shops that may sell only one food item to hot pot restaurants with bubbling cauldrons of vegetables, meats, and seafood that awaits to be shared.
There are lots of food options from all of the traditional snacks and small bite goodies that come from different regions of China to Japanese sushi bars and teppenyaki grill restaurants. The famous French chef Joel Rubuchon even has a restaurant in Taipei as does Jamie Oliver and there are lots of Western style restaurants selling pasta, risotto, and waffles.
But what if you’re on a budget? Is it possible to still eat reasonably cheap in Taipei outside of night market hours? Absolutely my friends!
In this video I give you just a few ideas on what you can do to save some NT dollars but there’s plenty of more options besides what I’ve shared here. If you are a carnivore there’s various snacks and soups make with pork, beef, and chicken. Vegetarians and even vegans have good choices too! Taipei was recently named by PETA Asia the number one vegan friendly city in Asia. If you would like to share some of your favorite cheap eats in Taipei please leave them in the comments!
Here is the list and locations you can find in google maps of all of the places featured in the video.
Dumpling Bun Locations are located all around Taipei:There are two near Taipei Main Station:

Fish Paste Tempura-Guangzhou Street Night Market: goo.gl/maps/ie...

Best pineapple cake famous all over E. Asia is Chia te in Songshan District on Nanking East Road. Always busy. Lines go down the sidewalk. South of Songshan Airport , west of Keelung River, North of Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall. Take the green line MRT. Get off NangingSanmin stop. Go East a few blocks. Across the street.

Best Peking Duck is at the Celestial Restaurant. 104, Taiwan, Taipei City, Zhongshan District, Nanjing W Rd, 1號3樓. Upstairs. Daiso next door at the street level. They bring the duck to the table and carve it. Great sauce and little pancakes.

Actually foods are more cheaper in south Taiwan, such as Kaohsiung. Why don't you come to Kaohsiung sometime? You will be amazed!

Guo's Danzai Noodles (郭記擔仔麵), in Liaoning St. Night Market: No. 79, Liaoning Street (not far from Nanjing-Fuxing!). NT$35 for a bowl of traditional Danzai Noodles with an egg. (No English menu or sign.) Night markets are great places to hunt for cheap food.
