I appreciate all the experimenting you do so we can learn through your videos. I just tried the LA Air Fryer seasoned coating using fresh catfish fillets that I cut in two. Really good, tasty & spicy. I experimented spritzing half(4) of the coated fillets with spray oil(used canola) and the other half(4), I followed the package directions and just rinsed with cold water, coated with the batter, and air fried @375° for 15 min, flipping half way through. I decided to cook all for another 3 minutes to get the temparature to about 185° -195°. I found that I liked the unspritzed fillets better. They were a little more crisp on the exterior than the spritzed fillets, I think, because no oil was soaked into the coating. I wouldn't turn either one of them down at suppertime, though . Thanks for your videos! yhdy're A big help with my new Ninja Foodi 8qt Delux. (Already made some beef shank-veg soup using the pressure cooker setting.) When you made the fish in the grill did it make everything else taste like fish ? Or smell like fish I was thinking about making fish in the air fryer but don’t want everything else to taste like fish
@4jamiejam5 жыл бұрын
@@rockcortez01 No, that is the best part! I am very picky about fish texture and smell. No only does it not give any lingering odor both when cooking, as well as on any foods after that, but I have never had a better texture on fish. It is still moist in the middle, but the outside has a great almost crispy texture (Did this with salmon w/ no outside coating - just canola oil and seasoning - and I was sold!)

If any person is living in a dorm, an air fryer will be your best friend. Military or college, an air fryer is fantastic when the dining facility is closed, or you don't feel like walking across base/campus, or you're on a specific diet.

John....I tried this tonight with my Foodi, and both my wife and I loved it. I may have put too much avocado oil on them though. By the time the internal temperature was where you suggested, the crust wasn't crispy. It was actually soggy. I put the Foodi on BROIL for both sides before the fillets got crisp enough. It could possibly be this Misto Oil Sprayer that I got from Walmart too instead of using Pam like you do. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!

Growing up in the south I ate a lot of fried catfish. It was a common lunch in most the schools in Louisiana and one of my favorites. The catfish I fried at home was hit and miss, not always flaky unless you cook it for a good while. Most air fryer videos say cook about 12 to 20 minutes at 400. You won't get flaky catfish that way, or at least I haven't, even with the internal temp at 200. I just did some research on fried catfish and turns out that they are shooting for internal of 340 for it to be flaky.
