John, my man, you are fearless! I gotta say, the Jump Bug cabinet is looking so good! If I were you, I wouldn't lose any sleep on the small laminate cut on the back. It's those little imperfections that make it uniquely yours. Besides, as you said, the more you do that, the better and easier it's going to get. And you really did save a crap load of time doing it that way! You sir are my arcade hero! Keep rockin' John!

Just to add some info to the future: That yellow contact adesive when on a smooth surface should come off easy if you rub with your finger or any rubber you can find (shoe, flip flops, any rubbery thing works), you dont need any product to remove it. And you can let it dry completly (like many hours if you like), if you apply heat it will reactivate the adesive and it will be much more agressive to contact than before. Use your heat gun to reactivate it, you need to heat it up to something like 200-220 degrees, so you can do one bit at a time. Great work, please don't skip more weeks... :)

John, glad you didn't get tempted to trim the ends before you applied the roller to the laminate. If you did that and there would have been any air pockets in the edges between the wood and laminate, the glue would have been contaminated by the dust and would not have adhered. Also, don't remove the dowels all at once or you will end up with air pockets. Applying laminate its not like vinyl, and that glue bonds very strong and doesn't budge a whole lot even if you apply a lot of rolling, best thing to do is go slow. You don't have to rush the job, it takes 15-20 min for the glue to set after you roll it, but you have another 20+ minutes to completely apply the laminate. Don't worry the glue will still stick even if it feels dry (actually that's when it bonds better). That bit they sold you to cut the laminate is just kr@p, they do make a 1/4" router bit with the bearing but the 1/2" is just as good and will not crack the laminate, the important thing is that i has a bearing which is what you SHOULD use for this type of work. Best place to get router bits is MLCSwoodworking.com. They also sell the T-Molding bits there, I got the one with the shims which is the best if you use different types of T-molding. Sorry to tell you John, but you routed the laminated clockwise, that is why you got the edges so rough....I know, it's your first time and you were nervous. To remove those router imperfections you can use a metal file to smooth out the laminate edges flush to the wood. Anyhow, the Jump Bug turned out great and as always you did a great job. If you ever have any woodworking questions let me know (been a cabinet maker for over 23 years).

Oh BTW, I forgot to mention that you can use SEAMFIL to patch that mistake on the Laminate. It's the stuff we use and will stick to the laminate and be just as strong and resistant. If you take your time and apply smoothly, you will not even notice it was there. They sell it in the same exact color to match the laminate, all you need it's the color code number, it's only like $4 or $5 bucks for the small tube.

Wow man the Jump Bug is really coming together! Looks really cleaned up from where you started at... can't wait to see it when its finished!! I do believe that it was one of the first games I checked out in MAME when I got into it back around version .30 or so, lol so I do know what a fun game it is. Sad to see the Gyruss go, but I suppose if it never gets played you may as well get rid of it for some extra cash or trade for a new game. Excited to see the last video when it's all finished and ready to join the ranks of The Basement, that's gonna be awesome! Great vids as always man have a good one!

I think you might have got some air bubbles in the lam because you started using the roller in the middle working from the middle to the outside(that was good), but then you switched and started working around the edges trapping the air bubbles in the center(starting at about 1:37:10. However, you can't see anything from the video and I'm sure it's very minor.

John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech Lol. Noticed the same thing. Thought you would catch yourself on side 2 but you didn't. Seemed to cut cleaner counter-clockwise when I did it. Also, remember the bit will follow imperfections, so it's a good idea to check the depth of the bit to make sure it is not going to fall into any damaged t-molding grooves or knot holes., etc, or the cutter will basically trace the imperfection into the laminate.
