For its uniqueness and novelty, that Quantum is one of the best games you've got John, a gem for sure. GREAT JOB.

Hey John, this is off topic but thank you for taking the time to post these videos! My neighbor used to work for Vintage Arcade Superstore in Glendale, CA. I found one of your videos through them about 2 years ago and I've learned so much!!!! I really appreciate the real time repairs and tech talk. Thanks for not being afraid to tackle big projects and get in over your head (like Computer Space). It's nice to see some trial and error, some frustration and research. You always come out ahead. Your videos are entertaining and educational. Thank You!!! :D

Awesome video! Just got done converging 2 K6100's Saturday myself :) Just an FYI. For Quantam to adjust convergence. When you get to the Square Grid Pattern (horizontal/Vertical Grid). It's Green. Roll the trackball for the other colors. Roll until you get to the Red/Blue Grid colors. Adjust the middle tabs to get the Red/Blue perfectly aligned making a purple grid. Then roll the trackball to get to the white pattern which is all 3 colored grids, the Red/Blue/Green all together. Adjust the tabs closest to the neckboard to align the green with the Red/Blue that you just aligned. You'll then see perfectly white lines. :) It's really easy and only takes a few minutes.

Hey John, in the earlier levels where it's less hectic, once you circle around a ball, continue circling around it as fast as possible. You will continue to receive points as long as you are doing it fast enough. Amazing job on the restore - my girlfriend and I love playing Quantum at Funspot (if it's not down!)

Congrads on finishing the Quantum John !! She's come up really great bud. The only thing extra I would on done is fix the back part where the wood had been ripped out. There are wars to fix just that without pulling the other stickers off and the serial sticker would have been able to go where it should be. But anyway as I said great job ! take this straight down to the basement and leave that Firefox where it is LOL

Hey John, you were asking during the game play about those expanding bad dots, check out your video back in 2014 when you went to Chicago to visit Joe Magiera's arcade collection. He has a Quantum and you did some video on him showing how Quantum is played. Roughly in the 30:00 min mark of the video. Cheers!! Awesome work on the Quantum. It looks bad ass sick so far!!!
@JohnCrawfordSchoolOfMusic8 жыл бұрын
I am not an arcade rebuilder or anything but I am in a hobby which involves a lot of electronics and that was one of the most simplest stick and accurate descriptions of series versus parallel I have ever seen. Mind if I steal that in some of my lectures?

That side art for your Ghostbusters is key, when you passed it up last time I said "no don't!!" I think it'll add more depth to the sides of the game plus the colors are spot on

I imagine you're trying to keep is as stock as possible as it is quite the handsome looking game. That artwork is still incredible, but it might be interesting if you could somehow do like you did with the major havoc and have the ball glow or change colors during game-play since the graphics are so colorful and vibrant.
@petervachon69898 жыл бұрын
Hey John, on the Quantum Marquee screws, for the 2 screws at the bottom, why don't you instead use pop rivets for the lower bracket to hold the marquee screen in place and use screws for the top. This way, it's easy to remove the screen to change the bulb if it goes out and the bottom rail will hold the screen in place while you install/remove the top rail.
@Johnsarcade8 жыл бұрын
I actually fixed it. I lubricated the screws and got them in.

Hope to get my recently acquired original Quantum cab up and running as well (#353). It was converted to a Street Fighter, so control panel looks like swiss cheese (overlay is still there). Been collecting all the parts but would really like another control panel if anyone has one to let go of. Original side art is still on mine and wasn't painted over but front did not survive. Glad to see yours up and running!

Thanks, but already did. He doesn't have any more of them. I was able to get the harness from Joe and a couple CPO's from Hans. I got one of the last repro blank PCB's, so might be a while before that gets built. Still hunting for an original PCB, but I know that may not happen.

@merkurfan988 жыл бұрын
Hi John i hope you'll make a video. About you, installing the shaker in your Ghostbusters. ;) Make sure to inspect your inserts. There is a big shitstorm at pinside, talking about ghosting and lifting inserts at some Ghostbusters, Game of Thrones and Spiderman games. Wich means the clearcoat above the inserts starts lifting and splitting from the inserts. If this is the case at your game(wich i hope not) you should see some bubbles between the insert and clearcoat.
