John. Get a powerful tool magnetizer/demagnetizer. They are cheap and it will be the best money you ever spent. Keep one in each toolbox. Second. More and more I now see the value and needs of 3d printers. You don't need an expensive one but one that can be setup quick and ready to go out of the box with a little learning curve. I am pretty sure there's likely a community that 3d prints all sorts of things you cannot find anymore. Think about just this video alone. 3dprint a corner brace you can use to screw and secure both boards together tighter for Major Havok or 3dprint plastic standoffs and and odd parts you cannot get anymore for these older machines. New motherboard brackets. Someone's probably made these already in file for you can just upload to a printer and test print them. Get a decent starter 3dprinter that won't break the bank. I am sure many have some suggestions. (I am just starting to look myself) . So glad you are back!

John, please be careful using that microfiber cloth on the lexan/plexiglas, I made the mistake of using one of those on lexan and the fibers of the cloth melted into the surface of the lexan as they are both plastic. I highly recommend you only use cotton cloths on plastics. Lesson learned for me, fortunately is was something that was easily replaced in my case.

*Clean the edge connector fingers with a fiberglass pen, on the MH, then hit it with some DeOxit. And do it for both the game board and the adapter board. This should be done once every few years, and especially if you've never done it. That will keep 99% of Atari power issues away.*

Could you check your power supply by bridging the +5v and ground with a suitable sized resistor (several hundred ohms I think you said), and then measure if the same drop in voltage occurs as when you plug in the board? If so, the PS is bad.

If you have a short, you could use a FLIR camera to see what part gets hotter than usual. Yes, touching each part could work as well, but if you have more games and locations, you could use FLIR camera during normal maintenance to locate problematic parts that are on their last leg and it's much faster, if you check multiple games.

I think what happened is that loop made switch wasnt registering, so that mean the game wont go into "in the paint mode" which uses the defender. I had the same issue with the right loop made switch, which is a harder shot to make. Also the diverter on that right loop is a pita.

Hi john, something that looks a bit dodgy on those power supply’s is the glue that’s holding down the big caps. That stuff starts to become conductive when it turns brown so might want to check it’s not shorting any tracks or solder joints or via’s. man I wish I had that arcade set up during Covid lock down you wouldn’t of seen me for months .

Massachusetts logic: - Video arcade and pinball games will spread COVID-19. - Casinos and slot machines will not. It makes sense when you realize that it's hopelessly corrupt on Beacon Hill, has been for generations and people are probably being paid bribes.

I think the Arcade1Up cabs are great for what they are. If you’re expecting the quality of an arcade machine that would have cost you 10 times as much when they were new, obviously you’re mistaken. But if you don’t have money or space for real cabs, and you want some to bang around on and give you an arcade like experience with friends, or with your kids, they’re perfect. Plus, supporting companies like A1U will only be good for the hobby in the long run, imo.

I also collect arcade games. I understand and agree with you completely on the Arcade 1-Ups. However, when it comes to TMNT and Burgertime, I own them. Why? I just cant see paying 2000+ dollars for either game. Those two specifically have just gotten so insanely expensive that I wouldn't own them otherwise. I'll probably eventually own the Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder cabinet for the same reason. Also, isn't a Holy Grail game one you don't yet own because it's unobtainable?

Regarding the Arcade 1Up's...they are decent for the price. The company is improving their techniques and attempting to give you that arcade experience. Let's face it, though. It's Ikea Arcade. It's not as durable. Definitely emulated. And not all of them are coming with that height extending base. However, it's also not aging hardware that's going to be in need of TLC...at first. So, if you want that casual arcade at home experience, these are great. But, let's face it. Arcade 1 Up is like the super sized Hot Wheels vs. a real arcade that's like owning a Mustang. World of difference.
