Syma X5C rotor replacement DIY

I demonstrate some flight issues with my Syma X5C quadcopter / drone and how to fix it. In this case I had a bent rotor shaft but also the motor was also not performing well.

Hey John, Great job with the Description, and Pointers ! I lost Count on how many X5c's etc I've fixed ? But this is the First time I've had a Similar issue with the Gear shaft ! Last night i kept trying to Unscrew the small part of the shaft (that the Propeller sets on) instead of Pulling it off as you have shown Here ! Thanks Alot for this 👍 I'm going to try this replacement Without taking it Apart again ! I Completely transferred Everything from One X5SW1 to the Shell of Another X5SW1, Circuit board, Lights, Everything ! The test flight went well, but it Started doing Pretty much what Yours was doing ! Hopefully it will come apart without any damage to the Shell etc ! Thanks again for making this Video ! It was Hard to find this Helpful Hint ! But "You" just ended my Search 😂 Thanx again, Here Goes Nothin...

John's DIY Playground Ya, as Soon as I put it all Back togather, it flew Great ! Which is the Payoff ! It was an Awesome feeling ! But now I ran into another issue ! Doesn't matter What kind of battery I use ? The Lights start flashing like the battery is done within 10 Seconds ! Maybe i didn't put the Gear in right, or, well I'm not sure yet, lol ! It flew great a fee times, now it dies aftera few Seconds ! So it's back to the drawing board, lol ...

I lost screws after opening the drone , what size screws are they ? What is the size of propellers ?

Your dialect is very great lakes. Are you from Chicago? My motor died on the same corner. My suspicion is they burn out because one blade gets hung up on an obstacle while the others spin. Too much of this beats up the motor.

@@JohnsDIYPlayground today I will replace the whole set of motors and save the used working ones as back up. This drone won't last forever. I wanted a learning drone. I will switch to brushless and add gps and some gimbal. The holy stone hs720e is a tempting next craft, but I am hoping to get to a mavic mini 2. I want the video drone skills, but start with flying skills first to amplify the videography. I may have to get intermediate before the DJI. The problem is, hs720e is $300 and the DJI is only $450. Am I wasting my money on the Holy Stone? I don't want to crash the mavic. At all. Recommendations?

Thanks so much, you wouldn't believe how relieved I am to find this video. I have this exact same problem. Did your left control make the quadcopter go left to right instead of rotating it? It was as if the controls switched over.

Usually if a motor is bad and a push to have the quad lean left, it will rotate instead.

Unfortunately you skipped over the info I really needed, which is how to separate the shaft from the cog! How much force is required? It feels like it's going to break if I pull it any harder...

Yeah the cogs are press fit on there and yes, it will seem like you could break the part.

@@JohnsDIYPlayground I ended up ordering. the whole shaft/cog unit to replace as a single item. Honestly the force required is so great I'm afraid of not just breaking the cog/shaft but the entire housing.
