Thank you. The throttle is insanely sensitive. It will start going up slowly but then without doing much it will shoot up. It's very tough to find some level point. I'm trying to use the diagonal bottom right position on concrete that is fairly level and it seems to help. Is there a way to decrease the Sensitivity?
@MartinFluteCompany7 жыл бұрын
No way to change the sensitivity of the throttle so you'll just need to get used to this one. The thing is even when we think we're multi tasking we're not really doing it. We're going back and forth between tasks so when the focus is on other things when flying it's easy for us to move a stick without really knowing it. Also it takes time to get used to just how far we move a stick; at first not much movement so we add a little more and it's too much. I really do have to say that the X5C has a throttle unlike many if any other quads. My problem is flying one after flying many others so when I decrease the throttle I go too far and it begins to fall so I have to push it up right away. Keep working with it and also if you get it on level ground you can reset the accelerometers by turning on the quad, bind it and then take both sticks straight down then out away from each other to the lower corners of their movement. Once it quits flashing it's back to level. Keep working with it my friend, stay in touch if you want I'd be curios how it going for you.
@bdragon2547 жыл бұрын
Wobble Copter yeah i know the feeling of getting used to another brand / model. i actually started on a much higher quality drone, with gps and a view screen on the remote. now I'm kind of going backwards but honestly i need to. it would seem that if i can fly one of these, then i can fly much better ones later. thanks again for your help! I'll keep you posted!
@MartinFluteCompany7 жыл бұрын
you're exactly correct. I started out opposite of you. I got one of these and learned how to actually fly it. Which means steering with the rudder, left stick. and using the ailerons to bank in turns. When you can fly it like that, put it where you want without thinking of it you're ready for an upgrade in terms of non gps models. It is so much fun to fly by only thinking where you want it to go and not giving the sticks a thought.

Thanks for that, as a new quad owner this should help with the drifting I currently have. Can you tell me if I will have to trim my current issue each and every time I use my quad?
@MartinFluteCompany8 жыл бұрын
+k33adr Actually most of the time you won't need to trim it. If you notice when it hovers that it seems to be tilted to one side or the other you would want to trim that. Sometimes it's obvious it needs to be trimmed. If there is no wind and you want to fly it precisely trim it and it will float right in front of you, it's cool. make slow inputs on the stick and put it right where you want it. If you click on wobble copter above then click on videos you can see other training type post, ones like flying in the wind. I'm adding directional flying before too long, it should be informative for new pilots. Thank you for the reply and if you have more questions let me know!

Thank you. Was getting frustrated with my Q222 after 3 days. Found this video, and now it can fly relatively calm n predictable :). Do we have to do this trimming on every flight or just a gyro calibration is enough?
@MartinFluteCompany8 жыл бұрын
You just need to do it if it needs it, I don't trim each time. As we fly around and make sharp turns or crash it messes with the gyros and the trim. As long as the quadcopter will hover correctly it's fine. We do have to account for wind because the quad will drift in it and that's ok. I also don't do a gyro calibration each time, same thing, I do it when it needs it. I'm happy this video helped you settle down that Q222 and I hope it continues to fly correctly. Let me know if you need any help or have questions. Thanks for stopping by my friend.

does the quad remember where flat is if the battery gets removed? And can the controllers trim settings be reset?
@MartinFluteCompany7 жыл бұрын
Yes it remembers but you have to set the unit on a flat surface when you turn it on. If you need to reset the gyros after you turn it on while it is still on the ground bring both sticks straight down and then all the way to the right. The units lights will flash and when the stop flashing a second or two later it's reset. I have a video on this if you want to see it.

Good real life experience! How long do the AA batteries last with the transmitter? Do you use Alkaline or NIMH? Thx!
@MartinFluteCompany7 жыл бұрын
Hi Juian6, I always use Alkaline when I don't use rechargeable batteries. Some transmitters use a lot of power but not this one. Actually I don't remember running out of transmitter power so they must last a long time. If you do run out the quadcopter will lose reception and come down rather than fly off as some do. These are pretty durable but I recommend if you know the propellers are going to hit something turn the power off. When blades hit and are running at high speed is when they are at the greatest risk of damage. Parts are cheap and they're easy to fix. QC 101 has over two hundred flights on his first Syma X5C and has done no repairs. I wish I could give you a specific time on the transmitter batteries but I don't have that information; they last a very long time if they're Alkaline. You might want to watch the link I have in the description if you're a new pilot. Happy flying and thanks for stopping by.

Great video helped explain a lot . Could you talk about fly away and is there a way to check before it happens ? Thanks again.
@MartinFluteCompany7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, in terms of |fly away's) are talking about the Syma X5 C or models in general. The Syma will not fly away if you lose radio contact, other models will most certainly fly away if you lose radio contact. If you want to check if it is a fly away model turn it on, start the props a little then shut down the transmitter. The main fly away problem is new pilot procedures. If you never want to loose a quadcopter to this then look through my videos on how to prevent fly away's. Click on my name, wobble copter to take you to my home page, then click on Videos and it will show you all of my videos and not the videos I have clicked a thumbs up on. If I didn't answer your question then ask again and give me something specific. Happy flying my friend.

So what does trimming exactly do?
@MartinFluteCompany7 жыл бұрын
Sometimes when the quadcopter has been knocked around a little bit it won't stay in one location and will tend to drift one way or the other. If you fly in no wind or little wind you'll notice this unwanted pull will fight your piloting efforts. If you trim it from time to time it will hover in one spot if their isn't any wind. In high winds I don't try to trim it's one constant adjustment after another one anyway.

Thank you for the comment much appreciated. I'm sure you'll enjoy the X8 as they fly great. It is heavy and is subject to vortex ring state. Not sure how much experience you have but just in case VRS is descending in the quadcopters own foot print. The air is turbulent and the aircraft will fall and keep on falling unless you pitch it in any direction and give it some throttle to get out of the bad air. Here are some tips that may help a lot depending on your time in grade flying these wonderful machines. My Syma X5S didn't use to need Trimming, why does it need to be trimmed now for me?
@MartinFluteCompany8 жыл бұрын
+Adam Neewooth Adam, it could be a number of things. Try to re-set the accerarometers, It may also have a bent shaft on the pinion gear making the propeller pull to the side and not straight up as it is intended. Tell me more about the situation and perhaps I can help more.
@MartinFluteCompany8 жыл бұрын
+Wobble Copter Did this happen after a crash, does trimming fix it until you start it up again? The more you tell me about it the more possible solutions I may have for you.
@Adam_Neeworth8 жыл бұрын
+Wobble Copter It happened after I crashed it into a tree, and the only way I could get it down, was to push the throttle up, which made it go less down, so it was easy to reach. After that, I flew it indoors, (no wind), and it just all of a sudden just kept flying forward, I tried Re-setting the accelrarometers, and everything else, but it didn't seem to work. My only option, was to trim it on the transmitter, by moving the forwards and backwards trim 6 times down, to make it hover stably. :)
@MartinFluteCompany8 жыл бұрын
+Adam Neewooth I think something became messed up while removing it from the tree; that also happened to me a long time ago. If you have the parts I'd replace the running gears and see what happens. I did however have one that did this and nothing I could do would make if fly right again, it wasn't an X5, it was a 326 which is the same running gear. Make sure everything looks normal, motor placement and change out the parts you have. In other words I think this is a physical problem and not an electronic problem. Would you please let me know if you get this resolved, thank you!

How do you manage to make the quad hover by itself? Btw great video thanks for sharing!
@MartinFluteCompany7 жыл бұрын
Unless a quadcopter has GPS hold it will drift in the wind as seen in this video. However if you have it trimmed meaning the pull of each propeller is equal it will stay in one location, or hover. Which is the essence of this video. On a calm day you can trim it well and then it will take very little stick to move it around slowly, it's fun to do if you ask me. Enjoy...
@natserog7 жыл бұрын
great video! thanks. what does the throttle trim actually do??
@MartinFluteCompany7 жыл бұрын
This one doesn't have throttle trim but if you have it you can adjust the hover in small increments so you can make it hover without climbing or dropping. Sometimes the throttle lever isn't sensitive enough to do that.

you cannot tell if trim is adjusted properly flying that low. -prop wash causes this light copter to behave erratically when close to ground.
@MartinFluteCompany8 жыл бұрын
I disagree based on fact. It is true there is a thing called ground effect which is considered to be VRS, or vortex ring state. There are two places a heli or vertical take off and landing aircrafts experience VRS. The blade thrust is affected when the pilot descends in their own prop wash, this affects the inner part of the wings or blades. The second time VRS comes into play is once a pilot gets past what is called the sweet spot or incorrectly termed the cushion during take off and landings. This second VRS effect affects the wing tips or blade tips. The American aeronautical engineers also call this VRS but that is debated by our Canadian counter part, they have a different term for it. All agree there is a sweet spot on take off and landings which is not affected by VRS. This is the spot just above the ground but not too far off the ground. Anything past that pilots experience VRS or what is called ground effect. Where I trim is in the sweet spot before VRS kicks in and it works very well as seen in this video. All I can say is try it, if you need to trim when you're in a hover try trimming it on the ground as in this video, it's much easier to do and especially for beginners.

@MartinFluteCompany6 жыл бұрын
There is no ground effect at the altitude shown. One has to get just above that when ground effect comes in to play. Try if if you don't believe me. Two types of vortex ring state and neither one are in play at that point.
@OregonDARRYL6 жыл бұрын
I'll check it out.. you're probably right because of how light this quad is...
@MartinFluteCompany6 жыл бұрын
It works the same for a full size helicopter. There isn't really a cushion of air but that's what people call it at that altitude. Just above that altitude is where the tips of the blades are affected by turbulence which differs when a helicopter lowers altitude in it's own footprint whereas the disturbance happens toward the center of the blades. American aviation calls both of these scenarios vortex ring state whereas Canadian aviation uses two different terms and claim the ground effect isn't vortex ring state. The reason I demonstrated trimming this way is because new pilots have a hard time trimming when the quad is in the air but this way it's easy and works perfectly every time.

Thank you for explaining this as my quad was doing the exact same thing and my Chinese broken English instruction manual wasn't getting me anywhere.
