A quick "show n tell" of the Polish Army bread bag that I use as a day trip woods bag. It has many pockets that helps keep your gear organized. At the time of this video, the bag could be bought on EBay for $8 to $12.

Thanks for watching and for your comment. I still enjoy using mine on day hikes. Some of the contents I carry have changed a little since the video and depends on where I am going or what I am doing. I like the way the bag looks too. Have a great day!

I watched your video and decided to buy this bag for $15. The online shopping mall website lacked detailed photos, but through your video, I was able to get an idea of the approximate size, internal structure, and how to use it. I've never used this type of bag, but it looks like a good bag. My bread bag is due to be delivered tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, so I'm very excited right now!

Wow! That must be old! I remember as a kid, back in the 1970s, kids used to mess around with the strap and make a small backpack out of it. I didn´t as I had a small military backpack already. Yep, I was a hotshot in the neighborhood. LOL! Cool channel!

Like the snaps on inside pockets. I ordered a 2 pack from Coleman's surplus for $9.95, they have metal "buttons" for inside pockets. The one you have Repel in holds a Bumble Bee snack on the run box just right. It will also fit a Starkist tuna salad kit box.

Interesting, and I'm glad that this bread bag works for you. Personally, I'm not a fan of over the shoulder bags because the single strap tends to dig in after an hour or so. My small possibles bag is a Hill People Gear Tamara pack. It holds everything I need and for longer outings I can use it as an exterior pocket on the main pack.

you probably won't answer this comment but I want to inform you that this bag is called by Polish soldiers CHLEBAK (bread box) and is used to store a mess tin, canteen, several other smaller items like soap, but the most important thing in this bag polish soldiers caring granades, these two pockets on the back were heard for caring grenades,it was integrated into tactical suspenders jokingly called choking suspenders

@@John-Sherwood-W4JFS you're welcome, and there is also an old soldier's joke about it, which the bread box does, of course, for storing grenades.because in polish we call this bag (Chlebak) in the literal translation bread box, btw polish (CH) is pronounced like songle (H) in english

It's nice to see people from other countries like our historical stuff :) This straps on the back are to attached bag to the soldiers belt. It was on the right side of the belt. In this two main "pockets" divided by piece of material there was canteen (in smaller one) and a... sorry i don't have a word "military plate". Canteen have their own pouch on belt, but in every regiment there was diffrences between "how use webbing" becouse these in military regulations was insane. And creator of this don't think about molle but it can be attached to mollies :D It was used not only by military but in civil defense, scouts etc. At last there was joke about stupidity in military "Bread bag as name says is to carry grenades" :D Thanks for video :D

Thanks for your post and sharing how the bag was used. The English word for "military plate" you might be looking for is "mess kit". I really enjoy using the bag for day hikes with a shoulder strap. Soon I will be getting Polish canteen (wz 39) and mess kit (wz 70) for my collection! Thanks for your funny military joke and for watching my video :D

I like it because it has the pockets to organize your little stuff. To me it has that bushcraft feel with the color and material of the bag and its a nice size for day walks in the woods to practice your skills. I think its possible to attach a rolled up tarp to the bottom for shelter. I have seen other videos where people have added patches to the flap of the bag to personalize. I'm thinking about doing this with Velcro so I can change patches from time to time. I hope my video was some help. JOHN

I have a Polish bred bag, and about half a dozen other military shoulder bags. I prefer them to the modern leather bags that are too heavy, and not at all good if you get water in them, Spray a military should bag down with a good water repellent, and it will stay dry, and last forever. Now, if I could just decide which one I like best.
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS 7 жыл бұрын
Well, deciding is the hard part. I have several too. I can't narrow it down to just one. I use all of them at different times. For me that's the best answer :)

Thats too bad about the pouch. It's not really needed to function but it does add to the piece. Did you replace the rubber gasket in your canteen? I found it to be the source of the smell in my bottle. I made a cork one and kept the rubber one for collection sake.
@turtlewolfpack6061
@turtlewolfpack6061 8 жыл бұрын
John Sherwood I actually kept the tire tube gasket, a good vinegar rinse got rid of almost all of the smell. I also rinse all the water bottles I use with vinegar to keep them clean and smelling good. This Polish bread bag has to be one of the best looking shoulder bags Ive seen and Ive been using things of this style for a long time in the bush.

This bag looks much more organised than the Cech (sorry about the spelling)version of the bread bag.
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS
@John-Sherwood-W4JFS 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, this bag is larger and more organized but not as water resistant as the Czech. The flap on this bag doesn't have as good of side coverage from the rain either. In fact, the fabric on this bag (a least mine) isn't water resistant at all. I can see light though the material on flap. I usually carry my Polish mess kit and canteen in this bag and put water sensitive things in ziplock or waterproof bags when I carry it just in case I get an afternoon shower which happens a lot here in Florida. Other than that, its a great bag and lots of people love them.

Yes, if what you are calling a peanut canteen is the polish canteen. It fits really good in that pocket even with the wool cover on it. Also the polish mess kit will fit on the other side even though all the pictures I've seen show them carrying it attached to the back of their pack.
