As I watch your video, I'm currently waiting on delivery from Coleman's. They still have the 2-pack bread bag deal. A couple bucks more now, but still super affordable, No straps, and no biggie. I'll probably wax one of them and maybe Nikwax the other, since I've never used Nikwax...good opportunity to see how well the stuff works. Cowboy coffee is the only way to make coffee. It is so good. I make it this way at home as well as in the field. Here in Tennessee ticks are brutal. Two years after having Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, I'm still dealing with the after-effects. You don't want it, believe me. I use Permethrin on all my gear...clothes, boots, bags, tarps/tents. It is extremely safe when used properly, and treatment lasts several weeks. It works EXTREMELY well. Sawyer's is the most popular brand, but you can easily mix your own and save a good chunk of $$.

Ugh, I hate ticks!! Just be glad the mosquitoes aren't as big as a horse like I ran into a field of corn behind my dad's old house in Missouri at a little place called Big Lake. Beautiful country lots of wildlife, good fishing and hunting and people with a heart of gold. Miss it a lot I would love to go back there to visit some day. Thanks for the video Chris, the bread bag looks like a great investment to your equipment. I see from what you showed that it would attach to a web belt nicely.

Well I finally got time to watch your video. It’s been in my “Watch Later” spot since you uploaded it. I appreciate the shoutout to my video! I haven’t had my Polish bread bag out in a while so you have inspired me to take it out next time I go. It also has my Polish mess kit, Polish silverware and canteen in it so I might take them along! I hate ticks too. After I see the first one, I start thinking I have more and it drives me crazy. I am definitely with you about camping in the fall and winter. Like where you are, here in Florida it just isn’t much fun with the heat, humidity, and insects unless it’s a early morning walk. Thanks for posting and we will see you next time!

Nice little bag. I have something similar somewhere in the garage i should look at. Just finished restoring a vintage Wood's backpack. Nice knife. Never did cowboy coffee, but i used to do Greek coffee a long time ago that gave you a nice layer of mud in the bottom of your cup. Thank you for taking us along, Chris. Stay safe
@CarolinaChrisOutdoors
@CarolinaChrisOutdoors 4 жыл бұрын
Well that sounds interesting.... this method leaves no mud at all....and it tastes a lot better than a machine can make. The insulative properties of the wood cup leave a lot to be desired, but the coolness factor makes up for it I think 😉
@shovelhead8

@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors After you drank the Greek coffee you put the cup upside down on your plate, and let the mud drip. My friend would read the patterns like reading tea leaves.. That was a long time ago. i still have to try my kuksa. Thank you for the reply, Chris

I got one of these, wasn't called a Polish Bread Bag and it came with a strap. I like it, fits quit a bit for a small sack, had to get a different water bottle, but it works as a small grab and go bag. Never thought of strapping a small tarp to bottom. Love your bench, strangely I have recently removed some old wooden shelves from my basement and set aside a piece to use as a bench on my trail at a bird watching area. Glad I found your channel, you have a new subscriber. Love a good ramble in the woods or on KZbin.

Got the two pack of them from Coleman's a few year back. I waxed treated both of them for additional water resistance. Made them much stiffer. Tends to "stand up" on their own now. One is now a "get home bag" in my work truck. I turned the other into a rock-hounding haversack for my wife. Good video!

Yep those bags are great, got mine from Coleman's too. Put a auto seat belt pad made with sheepskin on your sling. Helps a bunch with all my shoulder bag slings. Saw a videp where a guy found a tick in the woods and it was snowing. Seems like the CCT videos are getting fewer every week. I quit mine cause ramen started to bother me too much. Then after the heart attack, I'm on two strict diets where I can"t eat anything I liked. Now I just boil water outside in the back yard, testing which cup/burner combo works best together. Guess I could make coffee or broth while I'm testing.

I found some sodium free chicken bullion ..... it’s not as good as regular but after ya get used to it, it’s a pretty good replacement for the stuff that comes with ramen

Carolina Chris Outdoors I had some Herb Ox chicken broth while in hospital, liquid diet for supper. It was really good, so I ordered some chicken and beef broth. No sodium, so it tastes different. But you can add a little salt to please the taste buds? I put too much pepper in mine. Also Mrs Dash salt sub. My blood pressure is low now, so I'm thinking about just a pinch of real salt for starters. For awhile, I was thinking about licking the sweat from my arm just to taste some salt. Glad I didn't.

Bring some clear fingernail polish. Coat the things with that. It will harden on them and kill them. You can also put a drop on the skin over chigger bites. Kills them under the skin they cant breath. I like your kuska cup. Is it uberleben? Thanks for the video.

I did do that before, and it seemed to work. I bought some U.S. military pants with that treatment on them... retreated a couple times... worked good, but then I got bad comments for wearing military clothes when I never served... hate to offend people so I don’t wear those anymore. 😕

Do you use Permethrin, Picaridin or DEET? I use DEET or Picaridin most, although I have spray Permethrin a few years ago but I didn't think it worked that good. I hate ticks more than any other bug, I don't know what their use is but I think the world wouldn't miss them if they all went away. Last year my brother got into a bed of ticks, had about 15 and many on his, umm, down there. His buddy had about the same.
