Johnson Evinrude 6 HP outboard carb cleaning (1986-2001)

Tear down and rebuild of a 1989 Evinrude carb for the purpose of cleaning.

Thank you greatly. Best carb clean video I've found and I've searched high and low. 👍Also the float bowl in my 88 Evinrude has a primer hose attached to the bottom going into the prime lever. Do you have any suggestions on where I can find that particular carb repair video.

Any suggestions for a seized seat? I cannot get that to budge and have slipped the screw driver a couple times already. Worried about stripping it

Thanks for the video. I have a 1986 6hp Evinrude. It has recently been sputtering and now doesn’t accelerate properly. Dies at low idle speed and doesn’t go very fast at full throttle but will sometimes blow white smoke and kick up for just a moment. Would this be the a dirty carb or something else? I just replaced both spark plugs and that helped the sputtering but still doesn’t want to rev up high when it’s in gear.

Have a 1980s 8hp evinrude supposedly wasnt ran much same carb put new plugs and hooked fuel to it ran awesome idled fine even in gear took it out 2 times ran great went to leave couldn't keep running when I throttled it had alot of fuel in the air box any idea appreciate it

Sounds like the float is stuck. Needle and seat need a clean. You can confirm this by removing the fuel line while running and if it calms down and runs good after a couple minutes plug the fuel line back in and see if you start getting the excess fuel problem again. Do this a couple times. To confirm. Hopefully that helps. Good luck

Most online parts dealers use exploded parts drawings to find the part and availability of it. I think the parts you’re talking about you can only get used now. eBay. Used parts motors etc…. Thanks for watching
