*Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*

Thanks for watching Alex! I did sell this already. The reel overall was a bit heavier than I could handle after a duration. Best to cast and have on a stand. I’ve changed over to Daiwa’s since and they’ve been working just as great and even lighter. Not sure if that brings down the durability in them. Tight lines 🤙

That's a cool way to put the line in water so it can spool better. I will be using this technique on my next reel thanks. Thinking of re-spooling my reel now LOL. Thanks mate great tips.

@Seastheday883 жыл бұрын
Did some research on it. Great looking reel for the price. Couldn’t find anyone that put it through the uses though. I’ve been sticking with trusted reels as of recent. Have added Daiwa Saltist 20p and Daiwa Lexa HD to my steed. Ive since sold this Penn Battle II 8000 and also returned a Penn Battle III 3000. Now replaced with 2 Daiwa BG 2500 and one 4500 that have been doing great so far.

@@Seastheday88 so the penn reels have out? I was thinking of pulling the trigger on either a spinfisher or penn slammer
@Seastheday882 жыл бұрын
@@Bobby59 hey Bobby, ended up selling all my Penn spinning reels and switched to Daiwa BG. The BG sizing is a bit different, but much lighter and after 2 seasons without maintenance has been still smooth. Using 2x BG2500 on beach sand shores for light casting and have a slightly larger 4000 that can pull double duty for bait and wait, and local islands. The only penns I have are all conventional types in Fathoms and International VISX models, which are beasts for the price. Thanks and hope that helps.

Hello sir, How many meters can accommodate of this reel? Lets just say PE 2 and 40lb braid line, how many meters fit to that
@Seastheday882 жыл бұрын
I think it took my whole spool, I didn’t have any left over. 547yards of 40lb. But I did over spool it a bit. Hope that helps boss. Thanks for watching.

@@arccibernardo22 you’re welcome boss! Also consider the Daiwa BG version reels. I sold all my Penn Battle and replaced them with the Daiwa models. Lighter to hold and still good without service to this day. Took my smaller BG2500 sizes to shore/sand beach for a full season. Had a BG4500 that I used on boat and from rock cliff that had strong drag. Less, line for 4500 size but I think you can upgrade to 5000 and be in still same drag class, just a bigger spool. Good luck 🙌

@@arccibernardo22 Nice! The MQ has a big gear if I recall. There is a person on KZbin by username Dirty Hookers that caught a really nice size tuna with BG4500. Very capable reel 🙌

40 lb braid ?
@Seastheday882 жыл бұрын
Yes sir. 40lb braid on this. I think heavier would be better like 65lb for thicker diameter and how it would lay on the spool for this size reel. Side note, I sold the entire reel and replaced it with Daiwa BG/Saltist version that is slightly lighter to handle.

All of them are good. Also look at Daiwa BG series, very affordable and has been rock solid smooth for me since especially using in sand. I’m looking at Penn Slammer also for a bigger setup to chase tuna with.

How much tension do i need for spooling? Do i need to grip on it tight?
@Seastheday883 жыл бұрын
I gripped on it as tight as my hands could handle. If it feels spongy in the middle or end, it’s way too loose and the line may dig into itself if you’re hooked on a fish. Hope that helps 🤙

@@UnsulliedFishermann my friend has one similar. It allows you to apply and adjust tension from the tool, so it’ll be much easier than gripping with towel and hands. So what rod did you use to combo with the 8000
@Seastheday883 жыл бұрын
I ended up selling that 8000, replaced it with a Daiwa BG4500. Much much lighter for my frame size. Paired it with a St Croix Mojo Inshore 15-30lb rod but this became a back burner setup. Honestly at this rate I’ve been trying every type of fishing and finding the sweet spot is coastal surf fishing on light setup or offshore jigstick setups to be more fun.

Hi, 9min mark is best indicator. Bought it because it was a closeout clearance to make way for their 3 line. I ended up selling it not too long after this video and bought a Daiwa BG 4500 which was way lighter in the hands. The Battle 3 3000 I did a video of before this one was returned to vendor as well, it couldn’t take surf fishing after a month feeling gritty to wind. Ended up with a Daiwa BG2500 that to this day hasn’t been serviced and still smooth as the day I bought it. Still a Penn fan with a bunch of Fathoms, International and a Slammer 3. Thanks for watching.

You not put enough pressure on that line, when big fish with high drag, the line will dig into spool and snap

100% agree with you. I ended up selling this reel because it was too heavy weight wise and replaced with a Daiwa BG4500. Still good drag and more lighter weight. Had to take it to deep ocean and drop it down with a 8oz weight and reeled it back in tight. Much better packed now. Thanks for the suggestiins
