Johnston and Murphy shoes. My first pair, didn’t last very long. First month they ripped at the cap. Second month they ripped at the sole. I take anywhere from 10,000 to 12,000 steps a day. They lasted about 3 1/2 months and they were done..

Not blake stitched but rather cemented. Corrected grain rather than full grain. Basically you get what you pay for. Go for Allen Edmonds. Start off with the fifth avenue which can be purchased for $199 on sale.

Use shoe trees and frequently condition the leather with COACH leather lotion. Use a shoe horn. Small investments in caring for your shoe will extend the life and make your shoes look like you are well kept.

I tree all of my shoes and use Saphir products. This particular model of J&M shoe should have never been produced as a J&M shoe, they tarnish their brand.

They are a very cheaply made shoe. Many if not most are glued on construction with fake stitches to simulate blake . If you want a quick cheat buy to throw away quick they might qualify BUT they are too (not that cheap) for that. To buy quick and dispose, buy a $50.00 Thom McAn . It will do the job and it will not hurt when they fall apart .

I have 2 pairs of J&Ms & they look nothing like this & I have had them for about a year & a half now & they still look in great condition. What outlet did you buy these from? Cause the associate should’ve recommended the leather cleaner/protecter, leather shine, leather balm, there is really a lot of shoe care you can use to prevent the shoes from getting beat up like that.. did you use shoe trees? Those are also helpful as well, it’s keeps the shoes in shape & prevents creases. Just cause these pair of shoes didn’t work out for you doesn’t mean the rest of them won’t. They have came out with other shoes similar to those that have bottom leather soles, J&M sell shoes that are 100% leather, their shoes aren’t like Cole Han or Aldo that sell fake synthetic leather, now those shoes are trash! I would give another pair a shot, I promise you won’t be disappointed, if anything come visit me at my store & I’ll take care of you.

Alexandra’s Boo I’m trying another pair, but a little more higher end this time. I used trees, shoe cream, etc. This grade of shoe was terrible and for a first time J&M wearer, I honestly couldn’t believe they would attach their name to this shoe.

@@motormount9000 I would suggest not buying from the J&M outlet. Buy from their retail store or online and don't spend under $200. You got what you paid for with this pair.

The shoe looks really dry. Try using saddlesoap first (All those dirt is probably preventing the shine)then condition it then polish it. If the base is bad the shine won't come out. I think they can still be saved

You bought a low-end version. Which brings to question your taste in shoes. Those are the low-end J&M. Buy one of the high-end quality. Remember that US Presidents wear J&M shoes.

Three and Half Months? Sorry, I don't buy it. I used to commute to and from NYC, running up and down subway stairs in all types of weather and never came close to destroying even a basic pair of Rockports to the extent you wrecked those.

@@Incomudro1963 I walk over 10,000 steps a day through cemeteries, parking lots, in water, mud, etc. They didn’t last 4 months. With that being said, the other pairs I bought of JM, they held up ten times better than these crappy shoes. They shouldn’t even have Johnston Murphy labels on them. Total crap.

@motormount9000
@motormount9000 5 жыл бұрын
Florsheim, Clark, Rockport, Bostonian. They’re all about the same quality as these. I bought those J&M shoes at an outlet, they were very inexpensive. The leather is not top grain, the soles are rubber and glued, very low end. I’m not sure which Johnston’s you’re referring to, but if it’s the higher quality in the $250/$400 range, I can think of several much more stylish shoes to buy in that price range. Wolf & Shepard, Oscar William, Undandy, Thomas Bird, Jack Erwin, M.gemi, Myrqvist, to name a few. Goodyear, Blake, dovetail heels, quality leather, hand stitched uppers, some are partially bespoke. Best of all, made in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Etc..

Try next time their high end pair, the Melton model, its an oxford with Tan calf leather and goodyear welt. Its their best quality shoe and also their most expensive 220$us. And it looks way better than yours.

I have several pair of J&M shoes, and none of them looking like that. Those shoes, in that condition, are far beyond their life span. I mean, why would you even post a review on worn out shoes of any brand? J&M has been in business since 1850. If you prefer a different brand, I think they will still survive.

Did you just see the title and then look at a screen shot? I explained all of this in the video. They wore prematurely, the leather is subpar, the stitching failed after 10 wears, they are truly the worst shoes I have ever purchased. I wish Genesco Inc all the best as they continue to market a mass produced Chinese made shoe branded with the Johnston and Murphy name.
