Huge props to the viewer that donated the shoes. He truly wants guys to know what they’re stepping into. I think the sub $300 shoe companies are doing a lot of things right in order to get guys into better quality shoes than they will find at Payless, DSW, ASOS, Zara, Banana Republic, etc…, But would absolutely be opposed to quality shoes in the $300-$500. I would rank Meermin for shoes and boots for tailored outfits, Spier & Mackay for smart casual-business, Thursday Boots for casual or basic mailroom requirements, and Beckett Simonon for entry blake, fair weather. Meermin has some nice lasts while the rest of the brands won’t turn any heads but get the job done. That’s where a large percentage of guys comfort zone will be.

Hello T&H, now that you’ve guys reviewed both Beckett Simonon & Thursday Boots! How do you guys compare both of their shoes? What are your pros and cons?
@TrentonHeath5 жыл бұрын
Jose Omalin They’re both very similar. Pros for TB: Goodyear welted, stacked leather heel blocks, probably a little more durable sole (as it has rubber nub inlays to provide traction and better wear). Both are very simple to recraft and can be recrafted (TB probably a little more so since it’s GY welted instead of blake stitched like BS). BS’s upper leathers were very similar, but I’d say BS has a slight edge. BS would probably be more comfortable right out of the box since they are blake stitched. Mine felt great from day one, but I’ve never worn TB shoes, so I can’t say for certain. With both being at the $200 price point, it’s very close. They are very, very similar. TB you can order and have to you within days, BS you’ll have to wait a couple of months.

Got my Thursday Boots Executives today. Took them out of the box and put them right back in to be returned. The left show was fine. The right shoe had clearly been worn. It had creases before the cap toe, the back was creased, and there was a tear in the leather around the opening of the shoe (along with frayed leather and stitching around the opening). There were creases or indentations in the inner sole near the heel as well. Definitely not acceptable. Let’s see how the return process goes.

Just bought a pair of Thursday boots for an employee/friend. He wears a 13 and they don’t last long. Full leather upper and 360 Goodyear welt should hold up better. The bottoms come off his current footwear. Cheap shoes are like cheap tools. Rarely more than disposable. Good ones are an investment and can last more than your lifetime. I use some that were purchased by my Grandfather before I was born.

There are some Bostonian Goodyear welt shoes I would like you to review. See how they stack up against the other shoes

I wear my heels unevenly - I must kick or drag my heel. Any advice or protective measures I can take? Thanks. I've been really enjoying your videos and have recommended them to many.

Blayne Cooper Thanks, we really appreciate it! If you’re wearing your heel pads out quickly, you may want to consider heel taps to go on them. They’re little plastic or metal pieces that attach onto your heel pad. You wear those down instead of your heel pads, and they’re much cheaper to replace.

@@TrentonHeath Thanks! Can you recommend a brand? I checked some out on amazon and most get awful reviews. Nail, screw or glue? My heels won't be leather. Again, thanks.

Their proprietary rubber soles wear slightly closer to Vibram’s Eaton soles than Dainites.

I'm debating on buying the Executive, however I was wondering whether I would be able to put a proper high shine on the toe cap of these. Anyone have any input on that before I purchase?

I checked their website. It appears Thursday doesn't carry wide sizes
