Throughout all the Pokemon games, glitches have been present, and in a lot of cases, they can help you in your play through. While there are some very well known glitches, what does it take to do them all? Today we're going to find out how easily you can glitch Pokemon Emerald. 2:10 From what i remember from my days in Rom hacking, the warp to petalburg city happens because that warp tile is mapped to 0,0 in the warp list, and since the dive warp tile is technically unmapped, it teleports to a blank warp tile, which means it has the data of 0,0. Each map has its own map number and every warp has its own number, so map 0 is petalburg city and warp 0 of petalburg is that door, which is probably why that happens.

For the Cloning Glitch remember to never turn off the power when it's saving as it isn't necessary. Just wait for the "Do you want to save your game?" screen to show up, then you can safely turn off your game

For the Emerald cloning glitch... There is no timing needed. You can finish her entire dialogue, cancel out, walk around for a sec, THEN turn off and reload and you still get the clone. I did this thousands of times back in the day

You don't need to turn off the game during the oddly long pause. All you have to do is say yes when she asks you if you would like to save the game. Then, wait until that pause is over, and when the summary window shows up and wants to confirm with you if you would like to save, just say no, and confidently turn it off/softreset. The saving (and cloning) happens during the pause so after it's over you can safely restart your game, no crash, just clones

My friend and I were playing blue version. He was showing me the speed run you do by manipulating code. He beat the game but kept playing. We encountered some weird glitches. Since he used brock skip, the NPC that normally tells you you can't go was gone. Well we kept messing with it and found that if we tossed a certain item, it would reset the sprites. And we were able to do Brock skip again to go all the way to Cerulean cave. Well we reset and thought "yo let's do brock skip but instead of speedrunning we catch mewtwo and beat the game with just mewtwo" so we tried. Come to find out, you need surf. Well, defeated, he kept messing with items in the code and we found an item that when used, lets you surf! So we moved it up in the inventory so that moving areas wouldn't overwrite it. We also moved some code that was seen by the inventory as master balls. We went back to cerulean cave and caught a lickitung to accompany us through the cave along with our bulbasaur. We made it to Mewtwo and caught him. He beat three gyms with this mewtwo before getting bored and abandoning the run. I would love to see if there's a way to find a consistent way to do that.

you probably already found it out by now, but check out the pokemon blue RBA run, reverse badge acquisition. it does exactly what you are asking and really quickly too. i think it was done at a marathon, one of the gdq's iirc, so you can get some runner commentary on the run as well to help you figure out what is going on.

The Emerald Safari zone was the best Safari zone on the Gameboy tbh. Just grinding pokeblocks to get the right natures and the general feel of the zones just made it way more interesting to do versus Kanto and Sinnoh too

For Pokemon Essentials, the "Underwater warp" locations are actually based on the map above the underwater map and vice versa. It's possible the hideout's map is above Sootopolis in the list and happens to match the coordinates with that house. Or maybe not. It's much easier to fool around with Essentials than the codes for the games themselves so I'm not entirely sure how they made the games.

Nice video. ^^ Thanks for the credit in your description :) (I've noticed a lot more of the really popular Pokétubers [in your range like 100k-1m+) are covering Pokémon glitches in more depth now and also since Sword/Shield have major glitches now.. It would be cool to see more people do it. There were a good number already, but e.g. in the past Tamashii and Scykoh did some, and MissingnoXpert was popular (but most glitch information is there already found; just obscure). It seems in the past, the most popular Pokétubers have tended to only do them in brief detail until more recently (unlike say Mario glitchers like Pannenkoek), and some real but powerful glitches are left obscure. There are hardcore glitchers who frequently find new stuff even in Generation I (I guess I'm one, but programming stuff I tend to just catch up with the more tech communities like the pret (Pokémon disassembly) communities- also TheZZAZZGlitch and Crystal_ are better programmers than me) since like 2008 before lots of KZbinrs did commentary, but strangely we tend to be obscure. I recommend Metarkrai for some of the most in-depth Pomeg stuff. I do a lot of Generation I and II stuff including stuff at a glance seems complex (there are two big glitch communities really, and many more smaller obscure ones.. Glitch City Laboratories and (in another sense) organised Pokémon speedrunners though the latter seem to be more often on say, Discord). While to some extent these exploits are popular already; for instance, there is an actual 'glitch' (no ROM hack) (the actual bug is redirecting the flow of code to RAM through glitch scripts, bad OAM DMA etc.) lets you redirect the flow of code to create your own S.S. Anne Mew glitch got a lot of views on a channel related to Games Done Quick or similar (also say.. there is "LGFly"; the 151 catch em all video and what Shenanagans does, thanks to what the speedrunners and people like luckytyphlosion did - I notice a Pokétuber made a video about LGFly not too long ago, though LGFly is dated now) you can in fact create virtually any glitch you want now in Generation I/II with ACE within hardware constraints and size of the ROM (in speedruns though, there are categories that ban ACE etc.) (ACE though.. for instance, you could literally make the game say "Stop cheating. OK thanks." and give you a Mew. Or even play custom PCM sound effects (for Pokémon Yellow which uses them like the "Pikachu!" sound effect on the title screen, and it's seems people still don't know) like I found out my own method how to do it even though my "Mario 64 File Select" sound effect fills up like a whole section of the save file (in the past someone else tested ACE to the limit though to feed new code every frame with button presses and like.. turn Yellow into a simulation of Pokémon Gold). Also I made a custom tileset Mario Land Glitch City that plays that heavily compressed Mario 64 File Select theme, and you can even do arbitrary code execution in Generation III. (These aren't ROM hacks; but are basically modifying the save file and temporary in-game variables like PC Pokémon to an extreme, just enough so it could pass as one. Another thing you can do is set up a randomiser with an original official Game Pak and no cheating device with enough patience. Wipe the save file and the randomiser is gone until you set it up with glitches again though. But anything you can code you can do now; even (which have been done) Pokémon Tetris and Pong). Also you can create your own custom Pokémon. They aren't really new Pokémon, but you use arbitrary code execution to mess with the sprite pointer (or use one of the rare glitch Pokémon with WRAM glitch Pokémon sprites etc.) to read the sprite from RAM (the previously mentioned temporary in-game variables like your PC Pokémon) where you can make your own (I did Shrek).

Romhacker here, yes the house in Petalburg City has a warp on its door with the number 0 on the map 0 which is the City. So generally any glitch that would warp you with missing warp location info is probably going to default to that specific house.

There's a glitch I found a few years ago using a GameShark. If you go to the battle frontier and rent their Pokemon, you can use the teleport cheat as you walk through the door into the arena. Then, you'll have successfully stolen 3 lvl 100 Pokemon from the battle frontier, but you'll lose the team you originally had before starting so be careful with that glitch.

The warp glitch using the aqua hideout probably just warps to the first map in the stack, which is petalburg city (if I am not wrong) and that house should be warp 0 if I remember correctly. You could check with advance map :D

Interesting that Bad EGG never came up in this video. (though maybe they fixed it in Emerald?) When I was a kid I had 3 or 4 PC boxes completely full of the things because I kept trying to catch ? and ?????????? and ending up with Bad EGGs that I couldn't release instead. I don’t know if you’re one for requests or not, but to celebrate the reveal of Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, could you try to recruit every Pokémon in Blue rescue team? And a word of advice if you do try this, there are 5 version exclusive and to obtain them in your version you will need to either generate a wondermail code with them as the client or do something with a copy of Red Rescue Team in the GBA slot. I’m not entirely sure how that second option works, or even if it does since I’ve never tried it

3:02 The collision is actually correct for this tile in Mirage Tower. The diagonal ladder tiles aren't programmed to have a player walk behind them (which is why in every other instance, they're always in front of a wall). So while the collission is correct, it's the boulder tile that is missing.

When cloning, you can press a to the first time it asks you to save, and no to the second. Then you can just soft reset with no risk to your file

cloning corrections: 1) you don't need an empty box. you can deposit pokemon in any box 2) you shouldn't get a message that your save is corrupted. if you got that, you must have powerd off during saving, which isn't when you're supposed to power off anyway 3) you can never lose a pokemon while cloning as long as you deposit, save, and withdraw, and you only are doing 5 or fewer pokemon. You'll lose pokemon if you're doing the 6 pokemon method or you withdraw, save, and deposit (reverse cloning)

Here's a little fun fact. If you start the game, and save inside the moving truck, and then reload the game. When you walk out of the truck, the sign for Littleroot Town will come down, before disappearing instantly. I think this happens due to a similar thing that happens with the Dive glitch in the Aqua Hideout.

The reason you get teleported to the house in Petalburg is due to the town being registered as the 0.0 map (each number represents a map 0 and a map bank the other 0) because the game doesn't know where to teleport you get sent there.

Wow. Didn't expect to learn something new. At 11:55 ish, those window glitch tiles. I did notoce them. But I thought they were a result of corruption via pomeg berry glitch. I never ever heard they had anything to do with simply placing pokemon in a certain spot in a box

i think a gen 5 (black/white and/or the sequels) glitch video would be cool. its my favourite generation and i don't know many glitches other than minor out of bounds glitches (one in the dragon gym, one on a route, and one in the pokestar studio)

If I recall correctly, you will lose your Pokemon with the cloning glitch if you put a pokemon from your party into the box at the step where you've just saved your game in front of he PC, and are about to talk to the link battle clerk.

petalburg is the default warp yeah. petalburg city is the first map by index number (possibly the first map programmed into the game) and that door is the first petalburg warp by index number (presumably the first door they added to petalburg).
