It's great to see some projects in the wood shop. I love the blacksmith stuff, however it;s great to see a craftsman do his thing...🤩

After watching this a second time I got the idea of making some cutting boards and forging some herb choppers to sell as a set . Hopefully mine will turn out good like yours did . Thanks John for sharing the skills and ideas .

Omg! I’m so excited. I just started wood working and making boards a couple months ago and was thinking about making a 3rd KZbin for it. Now I get to see one of my favorite blacksmiths doing the same stuff I’m working with outside of blacksmithing too? Love it! If the project stay simple for a while, maybe I’ll try and build along!

It seems like every woodworking video I watch, the creator puts an awful lot of glue on surfaces to be joined. After some 20 odd years of teaching in a high school wood shop, the rule of thumb I wound up with was to use enough glue to make the surface look wet, but not so much that you can see the color of the glue. This way there’s much less cleanup, and I don’t recall ever having a glue joint fail.

A project somewhat like this that I made for my wife that she really uses is a pizza peel. Not so much for pizza, mostly for bread.

I'm finding it really handy to have a selection of cutting boards in the kitchen. Big ones are great to work on but can be a bit of a pain to clean properly(depending on the size of your sink) and quite often you don't really need a huge work area for quicker/smaller meals. In any case, those boards turned out great(to my layman's eyes, I'm no woodworker or cutting board afficionado), and of course: Have a Merry Christmas!

Wow! So beautiful, precise & symmetric. Instead of cutting boards they invoked a musical ambiance in my mind, as though they were just waiting to be strung & used by a rock band. Thank you for sharing!

Fantastic. Love seeing how amazing they looked when done. I have not fully mastered getting symmetrical shapes on boards like this. I made a few of strops with shaped handles that fit the swell of your hand. Different methods all used together seems to work well. Folding paper and following lines. Eyeballing, going back and forth, while checking often. Maybe I’m missing some trick. I’m not aiming for absolutely perfectly symmetrical but still don’t want it to look funny.

Nice job on the boards, also looking forward to your woodworking videos. On my little projects I use a clear epoxy with added color to fix chip out, deep cracks in knots, stuff that happens that you don't want to happen. I picked up a two part resin kit for doing some creative coloration of routed in details, along with the kit there were packets of mica powder colors. Perfect for blending epoxy repairs. Make a matching color, a standout out color, make it interesting. Alcohol colors work well and don't have the sparkly appearance of the mica colors
