Hello John, I am Bill G in Linwood Kansas USA. I have subscribed to your channel and have been following your series of videos on the Santisima Trinidad build. It has been a wonderful series of videos and I have enjoyed them very much. However, I have a question that I hope you wouldn't mind answering at some point in the future. When you varnish the ship with the Yacht varnish, why do you put the varnish on so thick? Thanks for your time to answer my question and keep the videos coming. Best regards, Bill G Linwood, Kansas USA

Hi Bill, thank you very much for your kind words!!! I am happy that you like my videos and my effort! To answer your question, the varnishing that you watched in the videos is not the gloss varnish but the wood sealer, and it must be thick because it will fill up the pores of the wood so i can apply later the gloss varnish. There i use also a paintbrush but the gloss varnish it self is thinner than the wood sealer.

Hi John! Hope all is well, I had a question that is probably obvious for for experienced ship builders...do you glue the cannons to the deck or are they only held in place by the ropes? Thanks for the videos and the help, my Santisima is coming along, working on Officers Qtrs now. Say hi to wolf for me!

Hi Craig! I use some glue under the wheels to secure them in position. The real cannons had a weight of tons, these ones are some grams so the gluing is necessary. I will hug him for you :)

Trick : Put a drop of glue under the canon, then hold the string to it before twisting it around, you won't have to hold it at the same time, it will hold itself; saves some fingers :)
