Still one of my favorite albums ever. Whenever I want to relax and transport myself to another place at the piano, I pull out my Avalon book and play it. The rock version and the slow soothing version of the same theme - just genius. The album plays like a film score. So beautiful. I remember seeing you in concert in Virginia with some friends in the late 1990s, and the music from this album was front and center. My favorite concert of all time. I loved every minute of it. You inspired me as a songwriter. I was fortunate enough to record some of my music in a studio before getting married and having kids. I don't know how you did it all and raised a family! I've just learned about your book and your battle with cancer. I can't wait to get a copy. Thank you for sharing your amazing story. And God bless you for sharing your talent with the world. I hope I get to hear you in concert again some day in the post-covid entertainment boom! You are a treasure and I hope you know how much your music has blessed, influenced and impacted so many people like me.

Several times she and I had tears in our eyes from the sheer beauty of the music. Daughter bought me the CD for my birthday; I have now purchased all the John Tesh CDs and still today, they remain my favorite music ♥ Thank you John, for sharing your gift with the world.

Hi John. I visited Avalon many years ago with my aunt, uncle, cousin, and a friend of my cousin. My uncle was the one who introduced me to this Avalon album. I'm a railfan, and I listen to this album while standing trackside waiting for trains to come by my camera. I also work on a railroad for a living, and I've played this many times at work in the railroad mechanical shop, and it makes everything more relaxing because working on the railroad is a stressful job.

I saw John perform his Avalon concert in Spokane Washington when he went in tour just after I watched this concert on PBS. I was mesmerized by the TV show. My wife had gone away for a girls camp for our church and I heard about the concert on the radio-a jazz/new age station-and immediately went to buy tickets. I asked how much front row seats were, and bought ones as close as were available for $38.00! I was on the right side of the stage with nothing in front of me! Best money I had ever spent on myself! But, during the concert, he started playing some of his romantic songs and suggested we all find someone next to us to get close to. I sat there, alone and wishing my wife had been able to come along. The concert was everything I had seen on the TV and more! The musicians!-Superb! The sound!-Spectacular! The showmanship!-Unmatched! Everything was magical! He and several others at one point were playing on portable, microphoned instruments. They disappeared, but you could hear them. They had gotten in the elevator and went up to the highest balcony to do a mini concert for the people in the cheap seats! That’s just the kind of guy John is! As a teenager, I had gone with my folks to see John Denver twice when he came to Spokane. Everyone was singing his songs with him and it was a memorable, Spirit-filled concert. Though John Tesh’s concert had very little signing, that same Spirit was present, and I thrilled at having the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this complete concert, live. I will never forget it. Thanks, John!

I was "dragged" to this concert in San Antonio by my wife and another couple. All I new of John Tesh at the time was ET. The fact that we would have great seats and a drink waitress helped a bit. It was outdoors at the historic Sunken Gardens Theater. It was was one of the best concerts I have been to - still to this day. I ran out and bought the CD the next day. It was second only to the Rush R30 tour when I had front row seats and got to meet Alex & Geddy before the show. I remember seeing this on PBS but was never able to find the video in the stores. This will suffice for now. Thanks for posting it!

John, My wife and I had the pleasure of seeing your performance at DTE Energy Music Theater, just north of Detroit, about 15 or so years ago. We remember you telling everyone that the airline had lost your bags, and the only shoes you had were a pair of flip flops! Rather funny, but it certainly didn't affect your playing at all. I still remember how your fingers seemed to dance across the keys, and your electronic violinist was quite the performer as well!

25:57 At long last, after _years_ of searching and wondering what this sweet little musical number was, I have _finally_ found it; on John Tesh's Avalon CD collection, it appears as an "Untitled Track", and a _hidden_ track, at that. When I was a child, listening to Tesh's music was very therapeutic for me, and I'm so glad to know there were others who may have slumbered to this lovely tune. "Goodnight Moon" it is. :) From what I can hear, the lyrics are: Close your eyes and drift away Touch the stars and the sky on your way Say your prayers and know that soon The rising sun will bid goodnight moon.

By the way, your version of Barcelona at your Avalon concert in 1997 is my favorite so far between the Avalon and Red Rocks versions. Thank you for your contribution of melody and song to the world. I noticed that you used the Kurzweil K2500xs during your Avalon concert in 1997. If you don't mind, what do you think about the K2500xs, it's sounds, capabilities as a workstation, and it's durability in touring. Thank you John Tesh in advance.

Hi John! Listener since 5 years old, in '95 (kid in the car during Live @ Red Rocks type situation) and I just noticed a musical parallel between a piece of yours here at 15:33 and the most "iconic" theme from the OST of a little video game that can be described as "a gravity-flipping Mario game in space". Anyway, the chord structure lines up almost perfectly between your piece L'Aquila at 15:33 and this piece called "Positive Force" from a game called "VVVVVV"! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqGWopyFgNp4eK8 (at about 0:41 you can hear it) It is chip tune music, so pardon that, but it's a delightful parallel and I've always wondered why I loved that track so much in that game: it's practically a John Tesh composition! 🤣 p. s. someone did a piano arrangement of another version of the same theme that's easier on the ears: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHK2mIeHfM-Xe8k

I remember catching this show sometime in my teens, and while I'm in no way knocking Tesh's obvious talents (I enjoy this show every time I watch it), there's only one thing that has bugged me since I first noticed it. He talks about visiting his wife's parents in Italy, and how there's a place in Rome where musicians gather, etc. He calls this piece..."The _Spanish_ Steps". John, c'mere... I know the languages might _sound_ similar, but shouldn't it be called "The _Italian_ Steps" or maybe even "The _Latin_ Steps"? Just sayin'...Italy ≠ Spain.

That is interesting to know. Love Yanni. Ah! But John Tesh is an absolute maestro!

John asked Yanni if he could join his first tour as a keyboardist. Then Yanni is the one that helped John get his first recording contract.
