I have this in the sunburst and love the coil split , very versatile guitar that feels great in the hands. The neck is second to none IMO. I’ve given the Pau Ferro fretboard several lemon oil treatments and it’s darkened up nicely.

I've got the same model in Tidepool blue but with a maple neck. Had it for 3 years now and it's my number 1 electric and no John I'm not selling mine either :)

It doesnt sound too bad for a les paul. It just doesnt have the twang of a teles bridge pickup. Id be more interested if it had a hum in the neck and a single in the bridge

That guitar sounds glorious. Back in the old band days I had one of those brown Tele Deluxe models with the Strat style head stock and two humbuckers for a while.. I didn't like it a lot at the time. I listened to some old recordings with that guitar on and thought why ever did I let that one go.

@@malcolmhardwick4258 Yes it was a 70s Fender. I got it in about 1999. I bought it from a guy in our local pub he was only asking £150 so it was a no brainer when I bought it.

Lovely guitar John, really nice demo, i have a black SX Tele , i just love the shape, so easy to hold, im going to upgrade the pick ups on it to boost the sound, there is nothing a Tele cant play, superb guitars

I ldo likethose player series teles and I do fancy a silver sparkle finish, but if you want a back up to your signature I would suggest picking up an FMT HH tele (or at least trying one if you can), before going for the player. It's Korean/Indonesian not MiM - I know that puts some people off - but they are awesome beasts and my 2009 model is basically my favourite electric. I love your signature btw, the lollar? pups , have some real bite and growl.

I'll admit the pup splits sound good on this reviewed model. But I'm not convinced of HH Teles in general. The one exception I'd consider being the 70s Vintera Tele Deluxe with original CuNiFe sized pickup and bobbin design only using AlNiCo magnets- sounds great, is affordable and reissue CuNiFes will drop in to make it the perfect HH Tele.

Nice. While you're shopping around you might want to check out the FMT HH version. It's got a set mahogany neck with abalone fret markers, mahogany body with a bound carved flame maple top, and Seymour Duncan pickups so it's not as traditional as the player series HH but I love how it sounds, plays and looks and it also has the coil split so it's extremely versatile. I thought it was a bargain when I bought it new for about $550 a few years ago, esp since it looks like a much more expensive guitar. You can find them in transparent red or black cherry burst but mine is amber and as a backup I think it might be closer in looks and sound to your signature model than the player series.

Was that a coil split at 8:32? That doesn't come as standard from what I can see from the spec sheets. Or am I mistaken?

Just found this video. The fretboard on that guitar looks shiny. I have one of these and have oiled the fretboard a few times but it looks matt in comparison. Do you know if something had s been done to that one? ( PS it’s a great all round guitar , and the neck feels wonderful)

I’m not a fan of any Fender Player series guitars .The Sire Larry Carlton guitars knock them horrible Fenders out of the ballpark. I’m looking forward to the new Sire range of guitars this year 😎👍
