The Art Deco piece that you've been "eyeing" is by The Honderich Furniture Co.(Canada).. After passing through many name changes and many owners.. They finally settled on that one in 1926.. Elizabeth Honderich became their Furniture Designer in 1941 fresh out of Art School... That particular piece is from their Dinning Room Collection..which won a Design Award from the Canadian Furniture Mart in 1967... Sadly though.. Honderich was bought out by Electrohome..which desperately wanted to transition into the "digital age".. nothing to do with the great cabinet and furniture company it once was... Electrohome's run came to slow end in the 90s and early 2000s.. Seeing such quality piece that has survived all these years.."restores" the memory of Canada's foremost cabinet and furniture history. What a great find!... I would pay the $150.00 as is... ✌️❤️😎👍

I actually have the complementary pieces to the cranberry dresser. They were made here in Winnipeg and I bought a desk/vanity first which had some water damage. I scraped off the loose veneer on the edges and it turned out to have solid wood, also oak underneath which I painted a navy blue. There was a piece of thick bevelled glass on the top which I kept. Turned out great. It also has a mirror!. While I was looking for something to complement that piece on the other side of the bed I found two matching smaller dressers, bought and painted it to match. And yes, the drawers are something else! Smooth swoop bottom into the sides, no edges to open up or collect small stuff, dust or splinter!

That was a very eye opening exploration. Would the last resale shop ever consider letting you take the special pieces you like and flip them back to them to resell at a higher price? Seems like it might be a win/win situation.....? Also, sometime you can find nice inexpensive furniture in antique shops.

I loved going scouting with you! I envy your possibilities. I live in "sorta" your neck o' the woods (Lubec, Maine/Campbello Island) and we have NO thrift stores. It would take a trip to Calais and there's nothing worth talking about there. However, I now live in a small, one-bedroom apartment, so there's no space to work on furniture. Grrr!

some really neat pieces at that last store. I have a Goodwill that I find great furniture at, hit and miss of course. This may sound bad, but you kinda get the feeling that maybe someone died and this is the stuff nobody wanted so they donated it. Some of the pieces just look like they came from the same house, ya know? I have been trying to figure out a way to get more surface space on my current craft desk and found an awesome art deco desk for 39.99! I passed on it my first visit but had regrets so went back the next day, measured and inspected it. Asked if they could do better on the price, got it for 29.99!. The best part was when my husband, daughter and son in law went to pick it up.......they noticed that 2 of the legs were bent up (but they knew it was an easy fix). Probably because they didn't want to move this heavy thing back to the show floor, they gave me a gift card for 10.00 at goodwill so all said and done I got this awesome big ole desk for 19.99. I love it as is, I just cleaned it up and it is perfect in my craft room.

what a shame the mid-century modern buffet at around 15mins is not in your price range yet: I'd love to see you bring that one back to life!! (especially what you would do with the drawer "pulls'" - they are so unusual!). But otherwise I'm not surprised you only got two things: it was a bit of a depressing selection, wasn't it? I hope you'll have a bonanza of roadside recovery items very soon to replenish your stocks free of charge! kindest regards, k

Hi Katie, the vanity at the front of the RE Store is not Art Deco (Arts & Crafts period). It looks more like made in the 1940's, possibly early 1950's. My oldest sister had one so similar - she's 83. Art Deco, although beefy looking, has a bit more ornamentation and made in the 1920's and 30's.
@salvagedbykscott4 ай бұрын
It is in fact an Art Deco waterfall style piece from the 1930’s. Waterfall is a style of furniture design from the 1930s and 1940s. It was the most prevalent variation on Art Deco furniture during this time, primarily created for the mass market and for bedroom suites.

Am in the UK, the prices in charity shops for most stuff nowadays is so expensive. And so many are closing down. But I'm not surprised because of the prices of things. There is one or too that is reasonable , but I think they have just gone greedy. And ots silly because the stuff doesn't sell , then they send it to other shops.
