Join Animals Asia on this historic day as we rescue the first two bears to our new sanctuary in Vietnam!
We have nicknamed the bears Buzz and Armstrong after the first humans to step foot on the moon. These moon bears will be the first to step paws onto the soft ground at our new sanctuary in Bach Ma, northern Vietnam.
They have suffered terribly on bile farms for nearly two decades, but today we're bringing them home where they will be loved and cared for for the rest of their lives.
The Bach Ma sanctuary signals the end of bear bile farming in Vietnam. After decades of campaigning and rescuing over 670 bears, Animals Asia is now working with the Vietnam government to rescue the last few hundred that remain on bile farms across the country.
What happens next?
The bears and team will travel to our new sanctuary in Bach Ma, Vietnam. It will take between one - two days, depending on weather and traffic.
Buzz and Armstrong will spend around 30 days in quarantine which is mandatory for every new arrival at sanctuary.
In quarantine our vets and bear care team will assess the bears' physical and mental health and build up their trust and confidence in their new carers and their new surroundings.
We will keep you updated on their progress over the coming days and weeks. Thank you for joining us and helping us bring these two precious bears home.
