Loved the tour and great collection. Please do another one or two during harvest time. I had only one fig tree a couple of years ago. I then started watching channels like Ross, Millenial Gardener, Harvey and more. I lost my mind and now have a very nice collection including Bass’ Favorite, Moro de Caneva, Figoin, Black Madeira, Barada, Del Sen Jaume Gran, Col de Dame Noir, I-258, Paratjal Rimada, Bourjasotte Grise and a few more. I am totally over pots and next year I am putting everything in the ground. I live in zone 8a in North Texas and not many people grow in ground here but I’m taking the gamble. They don’t belong in pots.
@FlomatonFamous2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely I’ll post updates, I also enjoy those channels. You should be able to grow in ground no problem. I’m also zone 8b here average low each year is about 18. Thank you for watching and supporting

@@FlomatonFamous I live on the southern tip of the plains and the winters are definitely getting hotter but it is so unpredictable. We are just as likely to have a 70 degree day as we are a 9 degree day.

Be careful, if you ever eat a top ranked fig you will become a collector, big big difference when compared to a brown turkey, Mechelle won't eat brown turkey but loves the other figs.

Do your brown turkey figs have a little pink eye on them because I was given one, and I'm not sure that's what it is? Thanks, great fig collection!!! Very impressive I love it

Peter Honey is really good and a great producer
@FlomatonFamous2 жыл бұрын
Would you compare it to LSU Gold? Is it better than gold?
@caveman76082 жыл бұрын
I almost bought a peters honey but saw a video where it didn’t do good. Saw a video from California and didn’t have an issue. It’s a shame cause I at least want one honey fig. I have been undecided for a while between LSU Champagne, peters honey, LSU hollier
@FlomatonFamous2 жыл бұрын
@@caveman7608 Also consider the LSU Gold, I think it's a top honey fig also.
@MrEunderwood Жыл бұрын
I just got Hollier, LSU GOLD and Kadota to trial. Kadota is supposed to be almost the same as Peter's honey so hopefully I'll be able to make a decision later on this year about which one to put in ground

How many hours of sunlight do you think a fig tree needs minimum to ripen figs?

Warning fig addiction is a really serious problem, lol. I currently have 60 plants myself. As a matter of fact, you have 2 or 3 varieties I would be willing to trade with you on, this winter. I know I have one that that you would really be interested in, I have an extra potted LSU Strawberry (from Cajun B), to trade. As well as cuttings of a few other LSU & CdD Varieties. I’m SouthernGardens on the fig forum and FigBid. East of you in Dothan Alabama.

I’m thinking of putting together a fig meeting and cutting swap this fall after trees go dormant. Maybe we can do a few trades. I’m up in Chattanooga right now for the fig frolic tomorrow
