Long overdue improvements to clean up my constant mess are so here!
Using the Darkest, Coldest days of the Arctic Winter to build the first of many new work stations in the old School class rooms converting them into a modern workshop.
Thank you.

That small saw, we call it a scroll saw. I'm sure you already know that. As soon as you take down that lathe you'll need it. As far as feeding that furnace every hour, you say you don't have a choice. Well you do have a choice, move to Florida or the South of Spain. I think it's cheaper to live here than the frozen Arctic but you would lose your snow plowing business. My electric bill this month was $ 49.00, in the Summer it will go up as high as $ 100,00. I love your videos Simon and I'm always watching from Panama City Florida, USA 🇺🇸🦅 ! The Sunshine State !

Hi Kirby, snow ploughing is not a business for me. The purpose of a business is to make money and it just covers the cost of the tractor for the year or at least should. I have done both, if fact got married in Kissimmee and helped a friend with a business in La Herradura where we spent much time. If I had stayed in either place money would never have been an issue, easy to make money in a civilized area especially Florida which I love and have spent much time there. My Brother also spends much time in the US.

Wow Simon! Massive work with an awesome outcome! Just looks awesome. So pleased you managed to catch up on your sleep deprivation with the old girl! Bet you dropped a few words when the power bill came in…..600% increase! They’ve ALL gone crazy with price hikes World wide. Lovely seeing the “girls” and Kasper. Trust by now the mother of all dumps has come and gone and look forward to seeing the next video. Look after that precious back of yours and warmest love to you all.❤️🕊️🇦🇺🇸🇪

Thank you Anne, I have been bracing myself. So many small companies have closed already just due to power costs. It no loner pays to keep the lights on and the heating running. I saddens me to think of all the people who died to get us this far, just for morons to fucj it up and send us all back to the dark ages. Away moving on yes it came with much more on the way and so the cycle continues. I am just having coffee after running the factory this morning machining up the timber for the shelves and draws. Have a great weekend and once again thank you.

I have a friend who used to live in Alaska & where he lived literally required him to run a burner all day & nite to keep alive. He is an engineer & had the same problems ie, the cost of fuel & electricity. He ended up accidentally solving the electricity problem cuz an old guy he new gifted him a steam engine, boiler, & generator as well as some line shaft machinery like a lathe a mill a saw and other tools. The boiler he ran all day creating the heating for his home / workshop aswell as running the electrical generator for his home and his 2 neighbours aswell as his tools. Thanks to the old guy giving him basically a business aswell as heating, lighting & extra cash from selling electric to his neighbours for half the price they were paying. All he needed to do was collect the fire wood which he did anyway. .

That was a result, steam engines are just great and can see how that would solve many of the problems including melting the ice to get the vast amount of water needed to run one unless he had it tapped into a well then even easier.

Howdy Simon- really nice job getting the bench top made up and installed. Yeah, I’ve had to do the cross hatching sanding a lot on different projects. It’s a pull on the shoulders when using a rough grit belt. I haven’t seen any belts past 180 available around here. I’ve gotten used to using a random orbital sander for the most part. Hope all is well with you and Ms. Sarah. Take care and God bless
@arctic-rebel
@arctic-rebel 7 күн бұрын
Thanks Paul, not just shoulders I am sure that aggravated my back! Funny you mentions the belts grit I was shocked when I found 240 and 400 belts so purchased 10 of each because like you say before we had to move to orbital to use the finer grits. The glue joint fails on then if they get to hot but otherwise they work great and got them from Amazon! I know but with resources being so bad here that company has transformed how I can work. Be well my Friend.

Wondering what other kind of hardwood trees you have around you other than Birch and Aspen? When you go outside, I can see it looks like there’s a lot of Spruce that grows there.
@arctic-rebel
@arctic-rebel 7 күн бұрын
Hi, we have no hardwood trees. Birch is a semi hardwood but not a true hard wood and everything else is a soft wood. There are some Aspen but not many you have to hunt for them. Then you have Spruce, Fir and Birch. None of them are very big and the further north you go the smaller they get until they are just bushes.
@Bealle66
@Bealle66 6 күн бұрын
@ that explains why you only get about four hours burn time in your boiler because of the soft wood, here in New England. In the states we are lucky to have quite a bit of hardwood Maple, Oak ,walnut,Ash ,Cherry ,Hickory , beech ,we have our share of soft woods, Spruce hemlock Tamarack pine,, any hardwood that produces a nut is good fire Wood,, 🪵. I will send a couple cords of hardwood your way 🤓 stay warm 👨🏼‍🌾🚜💨

You know why, bad decisions shutting down good nuclear power stations. Now they just steal our hydro power and buy expensive power from others. It will take 20 years to build new power stations like the ones we had, however with all the silly threats to Russia they can no longer get the raw materials to run them. I think Candles are the way forward!

@@arctic-rebel you are blaming the wrong thing for the high prices. It's because they told us that it going to be lower prices with privatization and the connection to the European grid. It's the companies who are charging higher prices for their share holders! I'm a Capitalist, but the government should have the country and citizens best in mind. Definitely not privatization of natural resources! This is why Norway has a lot of money! We should do the same with the iron ores, energy and other important thing like eldercare, health and education. They could have been using contractors, but not privatization of the whole thing! Don't argue with me, because I have lived a long time and have been seeing all of it. 😊
