Graduated from Jackson March 14th, had AIT at Jackson too lol (36B) graduated May 15 and now I'm in Germany for 2. Anyone going to Jackson, from my experience, it is incredibly easy. It seems like it's a horrible time, and it is, but looking back you see just how much of a great time you had. My Drill Sergeants were great. They're scary during the 1st week or so but they open up and turn out to be some of the most influential people in your life. I loved my Drill Sergeants. Embrace the suck

Well, I've never been good in any kind of sports and english is not my first language. But I've always dreamed of being physically fit and always felt the desire of becoming a soldier. Now that I've finally made the decision of joining, I know is not going to be easy since I'm 34 years old. So I think that's what I'm really most excited about, is going through all the experience of getting out of my comfort zone and achieving not only what I've always wanted physically but professionally too. Seeing that I am capable of doing it and that there is nothing impossible. Thanks Ben.

Those people will not only be there with you physically sharing the experience, but your family and friends at home will be there for you as well. You will need them both. Be strong, keep your head down, your eyes forward, and do not give up. If you are so inclined, don't be too proud to bend a knee in prayer. Get 'er done.

I went in July ‘92 at Ft Knox. Boot camp was 8 weeks and it was tough back then; I damn near failed. I was 75C (personnel admin specialist) and went to Ft Harrison, IN for 9 weeks, then went to my first duty station, Ft Campbell, KY. Fellas, if you’re gonna join the Army, start doing push ups, sit ups and go to the YMCA/high school track and run 8 laps around the track because you’re gonna do PT 5 days a week in basic training. Your recruiter won’t tell you this, but if you’re the hardcore rough and rugged type, get stationed at Ft Campbell, Ft Bragg, Ft Drum, Ft Hood or Ft Benning. If you’re the laid type, get stationed anywhere in VA. Good luck fellas, This We’ll Defend ✊🏾

All I can say for you recruits is the same thing all Drill Sergeants will tell you which is right place, right uniform, and right time. Also stay hydrated at all times and be FAST. If you struggle with PT every night do your pushups and situps no matter how tired you are, besides that goodluck and looking forward to serving with you future soldiers. Going to FT Jackson end of August 2019. I’m an older guy so I was worried a little bit after being at MEPS and seeing these young guys shit bricks over nothing, I feel pretty confident. Lol. My mental strength is my biggest asset. Older and wiser lol. I would say I am worried about physical fitness. I am not in the best shape and I really hope that’s not the reason I don’t make it through.

Honestly, looking back on it. Basic/AIT was some of the most fun I've had in the Army. One tip you missed tho, MAKE SURE YOUR LCOKERS ARE LOCKED, cannot stress that enough. If not you will come back to a bay with stuff thrown everywhere, shaving cream on everything, bunks and mattresses knocked over. One time they even dumped shredded paper over all the shaving cream to make things an absolute disaster like the Joplin tornado and hurricane Katrina hit at the same time

thankyou for your service and sacrifice for our country and it's people...my son who is 20 really had no direction in life kind of like a lost soul . We went through alot of hard times, had some terrible losses 3 including my mother, grandmother and uncle (my very best friend) my sons mentor all within a year ..we both had no direction ..my son especially he was only 15 when this tragedy happened ..over time and alot of prayers I got him thinking about the military ,the road my father had gone down with through the army with Vietnam but scared my son because if all the ailments my father has ..PTSD, PROSTATE CANCER FROM AGENT ORANGE but after speaking with the most amazing recruiters sgt. Bennett and sgt. freenor they helped him make the best decision hes ever made ..my son left for boot camp in ft. leanord wood Missouri on may 29th 2019..the start of a brand new chapter of what will be an amazing exciting life.. NOT only will he be able to see the world , he will make new friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime and a brotherhood bond that only military members know about ..I'm a very proud mom of a soon to be graduated bootcamp soldier.. 9weeks left lol ..brand new ...but like my son elijah said quitting is not an option ..he will never give up he will push through even if has nothing left to.push ...thankyou sir for this video it made me feel alittle better and understood alittle more clearly what goes on ..hes in the blackout phase where there can be zero contact between us, so my anxiety is at 100 lol...but I know hes ok ....much respect to you sir and thankyou again for your service to our country . without people like you we wouldnt have the freedoms that we live by today and unfortunately some take for granted ...enjoy your life you deserve it xo

Dude in my platoon put his BCG in his pocket at the range while his rifle was shotgunned for inspection. Well one of his cough drops got caught in it and it melted all over the firing mechanism. So he had to charge his weapon after each shot. The reaction from the DS was priceless. The same guy also dry fired his weapon while pulling security on the 8k ruck. It was dead silence and all everyone heard was “click.” The DS lost her mind, and the guy’s excuse was he was checking to see if it was on safe. Lmao

Reggie Smith All kinds of crazy stuff from trainees. We had one guy in my platoon who got tackled because he was absent minded and flagged other trainees. He was allowed to stay with the company for the rest of the cycle but he was forced to restart white phase so he couldn't graduate with us. While we were pulling security on the Forge our first night (while trying to make it look like we weren't falling asleep because it was like 3AM and we were dog tired from the twelve mile ruck and from having to do PT when we were done), we had another guy in my platoon who saw a drone flying and actually pointed his weapon and fired off a blank. The drill sergeants, even after they found out the guy who did it, forced the whole platoon, including the females whom the drill sergeants knew had nothing to do with it, to low crawl for whatseemed like half an hour. One of the other platoons had *FIFTEEN* of their weapons taken by drill sergeants, and they were forced to all low crawl too. Great memories.

I went through before they changed to the new BCT format so I’m unfamiliar with the forge. We just had FTX 1, 2, and 3. I heard the final march was like a 60 mile ruck.

I also went to for sill Oklahoma, it wasn't bad because I went in September and it was nice out. Basic Training isn't that bad, just keep your head down, do what your told with no questions asked, and make as many friends as possible. Basic training is going to be the best worst time of your life. You guys might not understand that now but you will.

We had a drill Sgt who would ride between us while we were marching. He had a fishing pole he would hang a cs container to. When he flicked the pole the canister would activate and fly into our ranks. One time the canister didn't break free and came back to the drill(who wasn't wearing a mask). Ah! Memories.
