A fun fact: The human eye can't see more than 90fps and that's why VR headsets are 90hz.
@meatisomalley6 жыл бұрын
fun fact basshead, not sure if you're intentionally spreading misinformation, but that fact is extremely reductive and factually incorrect. For starters, because of something called bloch's law, there is no consistent 'framerate' that we can gauge the human eye to see. (with that being said, almost no one would perceive change past 250 FPS, regardless of conditions.) Likewise, just because a game is running in 90 fps and a monitor is 90 hz, doesn't mean that the eye is perceiving every frame, because frame rate and hz level aren't always synced together.

Gabriel Balaich how much of a difference does gsync make?
@jetgold7 жыл бұрын
G sync keeps the monitor fresh rate and game run at the same refresh rate so it is suppose to stop screen tearing, that is if the game company puts the option in graphics setting. plus for the lap top under system info will tell you if the screen is G sync compatible . side note AMD use the same thing but calls it some thing , whew lotta text. all of course can be looked up on good Ect. good luck.
@Azurephoenix13x7 жыл бұрын
If you're rambling about presentation, then you probably don't care that much about input latency.
@cl4ster177 жыл бұрын
Does this specific laptop support Gsync? It usually introduces a price premium of 100-200 bucks if you look at mostly identical screens like the Asus MG279Q (FreeSync) and PG279Q (GSync). KERNAL GSync does make a noticeable difference when running at up to 60 FPS (even on 240 Hz display). Overall gameplay feels smoother and obviously no tearing. To enable it, you have to set monitor technology in the Nvidia Control Panel to Gsync. I personally have disabled VSync off globally so that Gsync will turn off once FPS exceed 165 FPS (165 Hz display) for games like CSGO where any kind of FPS-lock is pure hell. All other games benefit from GSync because most of them run at 40-100 FPS. I have not encountered any game that doesn't work with Gsync.

To fix screen tearing on any game, just enabled "V-Sync". Most games should have a V-Sync option but if they don't you can force it through the Nvidia Control Panel. Just note that V-Sync locks the frame rate at 60. If you want 60+ without screen tear you would need a G-Sync monitor.
@Kelvin-um8li7 жыл бұрын
The thing with vsync is that it gives you input lag. You can choose input lag over screen tearing, but I don't think it is worth it.
@mortalmars38817 жыл бұрын
Kelvin The input lag is very minimal to the point of barely noticing it. Screen tearing can ruin the experience of an entire game. If you're that serious about input lag then your best bet is to get a G-sync (nvidia gpu) or Free Sync (amd gpu) monitor.
@Kelvin-um8li7 жыл бұрын
I personally never played a fighting game on a pc or with a controller, so I can't speak for the game NihongoGamer was playing. I found out that the input lag issue varies significantly from different games. Like you said, I barely got any input lag on certain games, but a specific game (Overwatch) caused major issues for me because of the severe delay. By the way, I already have a g-sync monitor for my desktop; this was my experience when I was gaming on my gaming laptop.

@Razyre7 жыл бұрын
Screen tearing is caused by the frame rate being much higher than that of the refresh rate of the screen. You can't fix it without either having a variable refresh rate display with a high ceiling (120/144Hz for e.g.) or turning on V Sync but you can't do that for your fighting games because the input lag would ruin your life haha. Just something you'll have to deal with. Did you not get the OLED model? That thing looks to die for.
@schyro63677 жыл бұрын
Rossco does the 144hz monitor fix that?
@Razyre7 жыл бұрын
Schyro only if you aren't exceeding 144fps in the game. Variable refresh displays output the same number of frames the game produces unless you are under its minimum cap (e.g. 30fps) or above its maximum (e.g. 144). Tearing is caused by the GPU throwing new frames far out of sync with refresh, so you get two parts of a different frame when the screen refreshes instead of one whole frame.
@ZommyTheZombie7 жыл бұрын
If there's a way to limit FPS, that would probably do it as well (60fps // 60hz)

Kaito Yukihiro A workstation is still a PC, as that functionality is there for it to be, and it's simply optimized for handling workloads such as editing and rendering and neural networks and whatnot. A personal computer, or PC, just means a computer for general use. There are specific specializations for them, such as a workstation PC or a gaming PC, but a laptop is no more of a PC than a desktop, and vice verse. You're creating divisions that are unnecessary and incorrect.
@itsarcelle7 жыл бұрын
I never said anything that conflicts that. I specifically stated "a laptop is no more of a PC than a desktop, and vice verse. You're creating divisions that are unnecessary and incorrect." The only error there is "vice verse," which should read as, "vice versa." You, however, with the both of your comments, contradicted that entirely. Again, you are creating unnecessary and blatantly incorrect divisons. Are you dim?

Did you get the G-SYNC option for the LCD screen? That helps with screen tearing and smoothness on most games. Seems like only the GTX 1070 GPU has a G-SYNC LCD option. I would upgrade to the 120 HZ option for smoother game play. I would see if you could exchange it for the better GPU and LCD. Dell usually has a good return policy. If not you could try an external G-SYNC monitor.

Try turning on V-Sync to fix screen tearing. If the game doesn't not offer the option you may be able to enable it in your NVidia driver controls. Screen tearing occurs when the framerate outputted by the graphics card and the refresh rate of your monitor don't match. V-sync does some extra processing to make sure it's locked to a consistent frame rate to eliminate tearing. It can lower performance, but it is not usually an issue. Some displays have a variable refresh rate that works in tandem with the GPU to fix this problem, look for free sync or G-Sync for that technology. I also have a gaming notebook. It's an ASUS G751JT and it's stupidly big and heavy, but the GTX970M still plays games quite well and is good for video rendering. For my next PC, I'm looking at a Surface Pro 5 as I really need something to draw on and that weighs less than the 10lbs my current setup weighs.

Yeah I think I can agree there. The German Mason, Nihongo did mention that it is more expensive to buy PC parts in Japan due to the nature they are sold and also mentioned he would rather have a gaming laptop so he can take it to his studio mostly.
and for screen tearing, this laptop is built to run games at 1080p med to max settings. Do not turn on the vsync for competitive games they will be so laggy. If you are playing single player games then turn vsync on as it will make games more fluid

Personally I use a desktop gaming PC since I don't need portability, my main use of it is to play multiplatform games that are 30fps on console in 60fps on PC. However, if I'm being honest, if I were forced to either get rid of my consoles or get rid of my PC, I would get rid of my PC. Mainly because there are just way too many games I'm interested in on console that aren't on PC, can't say the same about PC. I also like the more tailored experience on console. Frankly, if there was a console that can do 60fps in pretty much every game I'd lose most interest in gaming PCs.

to eliminate screen tearing just cap your fps close to your refresh rate, for example ~140 with 144Hz screen or ~58 with 60Hz screen (personally i had the best results with MSI afterburner, but there are many ways to do this). If you are lazy you can just turn on V-sync but this can add a lot of input lag depending on the type, so i highly recommend capping if you don't have free- or G-sync.

I know that there are millions of Japanese and no way that a good percentage of them can't speak english well, and I would find them if I search for them (or go out more, you name it) but. BUT, in mainstream media or generally everywhere I see, Japanese generally have bad english accent, convoluted by their unique japanese accent. Even voice actors got it bad... you see what I'm getting at? Watching you just shines a new light on me. You're probably the first average guy who speaks english really well I see on youtube, the other guy being Michio Kaku. But he doesn't count because he's pretty much a god, not a mere mortal. I'm subscribing.

@NihongoGamer You need to enable V-Sync to get rid of screen tearing, if there's no such option in the game settings (it could be VSYNC or Vertical Synchronization), you can force it for a specific application through Nvidia Control Panel (can be found by right clicking in an empty spot on your desktop). Enjoy your new Laptop, love your videos so far :)

Sad thing is, I joined back then in 2012 with an Alienware too, and now its pretty 'old' I mean it still is powerful and run some modern games but not at max, it feels weird to have an alienware that it's less powerful than a lot of more common/normal ones now. True PC gaming is on desktop as well, but after seeing what your said I think is perfect for you. Congrats and enjoy!

strange they are the two reasons I mainly play on PC. 1) Don't have to deal with console garbage controllers, paid online, toxic community, slow updates, broken games that stay broken ect. 2) Exclusive genres,Exclusive games, cheaper prices & superior mods. @joshpobje69387 жыл бұрын
hollowficate Consoles are absolutely fine so don't make up excuses on why you use them because 1) consoles have as many problems as pc, usually pcs are easier to repair 2) pc also have exclusive games but overall exclusives are fucked, they're companies locking some gamers out of their games just because of the platform they play on.

V-sync settings help screen tearing, make certain you look for that setting, turn it on. your framerate might drop just a little, but it should help the screen tearing immensely.
@NateDawgg4207 жыл бұрын
To fix screen tearing you need to cap your fps the same as your screen refresh rate. you can find your max refresh rate in the nvidia control panel. V-sync works good at preventing screen tearing but g-sync is better because it doesn't make stuttering, if your laptop or monitor even has it.

As someone who likes building mini-itx portable PC's I don't blame you for buying a laptop if PC parts in certain areas of Japan are expensive. In the future I would suggest just using a laptop and stand alone drawing tablet. I use a Artisul D13 and it's only $400 and can be powered by USB port. Great video +like
@patocrioyo13837 жыл бұрын
Hey, since you have an nVidia graphics card you should try Fast Sync going to its control panel from the desktop, hitting "Manage 3D settings" and scroll down to "Vertical Sync", then choose "Fast". That'll fix screen tearing while keeping input lag to the minimum. It's MUCH better than Vsync and you can take advantage of it without having a Gsync display. I have a 1070 and I've been using it for the past two months, works great to me. Now if you want the least input lag for fighting games (which I don't play so I don't mind) you'll probably have to put up that screen tearing.

Does KOF have the option to turn on V-Sync? If so, turn it on, it syncs the entire screen so there is no screen tearing.

screen tearing is caused my excess frames. Since I assume the laptop only has a 60hz screen. Turn on vsync if there's a setting for it
@Totenglocke427 жыл бұрын
Regarding the screen tearing issue, that is usually fixed by enabling v-sync. It should be in the games graphics options, otherwise you can force it through the Nvidia control panel.

Joining the PC Master Race with THIS Alienware Laptop makes Lots of sense... I bought this same laptop a few months ago and I'm in Love with it. Since 1999, I've Always built my own Gaming rig and it was time to upgrade once again with a whole new setup. The components inside this machine are Stellar. Performance is mind-blowing considering it's coming out of a Laptop !!. If you have anything Negative to say about this particular Alienware product, then you simply have never used one. Plus, the Price to Performance you get out of this is completely on par with Any desktop build you could create....
@cellprocessing68327 жыл бұрын
Screen tearing happens most often when game is running faster than the refresh rate of your monitor. Try turning on V-sync or Vertical Sync. If the game is not running smooth. And seems choppy or studdery. What we call studder. Try turning graphics settings down. Quick class on Graphics settings. Texture settings are the surface image applied to all 3D models. Looks at texture settings as like setting the megapixel output on your camera. The higher you go. The higher the detail on the 3D model. The more detail you use. The more vido memory it will take up. Anistropic filtering is fix clarity introduced between textures upclose on the screen and far away. Most modren GPU can do this with out a performance hit. Always try on, 16x or 8x first. Anti Aliasing is to correct the stair steping mostly seen on diagonal lines on a monitor. But lower resolution monitors like 1080 and below still have this issue. Less of a big deal on higher resolution monitors like 4K. Most common is FXAA and MSAA. FXAA is less intensive both on your GPU and Video Ram. It works by adding a filter over the entire image to blur the lines so stair stepping is not so noticeable. But FXAA can often make things not look as sharp on the background. Also games have 2D alphas in them. Like Chainlink fences often. FXAA will remove any Stair Stepping from them. MSAA works only on the edges of 3D objects. It can make a much cleaner image. How ever at a much more heavy usage of the GPU and Vram. THe higher you set MSAA x2,x4,x8 more vram you will use up too. It also can not correct jagged lines on 2D effects.

just a tip, I have the same one, if you lift it up off the table say with a laptop stand, the temp will be about 4c lower. I make it stand on a mouse pad box angled about 60 degrees lol
@PcGameHunter7 жыл бұрын
The way to get rid of screen-tearing is to enable "V-sync", basically it syncs the frames rendered by the GPU to the refresh rate of the screen. However that means that if the FPS drops bellow what the V-sync is set to (Default is 60, some have half-frame or 30FPS) it will make the screen wait for the frames to render, which may cause a noticeable sluggishness and input delay. So basically if the game can't run at 60/30FPS constantly. V-sync is a trade-off between delay and screen tearing.
@twall43816 жыл бұрын
Have you checked out MSI's lineup of laptops, they have great performance but are also a lot thinner and come in larger display sizes.

V Sync if it's in the game settings or G sync which you can set from the geforce experience app (or the geforce control panel) Built my desktop that I game on, and my Surface that I lighter games on. Before that Qosmio x300 , it was massive and heavy but I loved it. and it was my only PC at the time. Also, you already have a decent GPU in that laptop so you honestly won't see much improvement with games if you got a more powerful one to run externally. Mobile CPU that's in the laptop turns into a bottleneck. It's much more worth it for devices that have integrated GPUs.
@shtiken7 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the laptop. The problem with gaming laptops though is that they get outdated quickly, as in lose value quickly, and you can't upgrade the graphics card, you did mention that last point though, but hey if you need portability you need portability, there's no way around it.

screen tearing is fixed with vsync. or by limiting fps to under 60 or whatver your monitors refresh rate is. Just enable vsync unless it is a game where u are very worried about input lag. Most console games use vysnc with pc you have the choice to have it on or not.
@Kekeripo7 жыл бұрын
If you didn't take the OLED screen options, i would have recommendet the gigabyte aero 15 over the AW13. And to fix screentearing: Limit FPS to your refreshrate of 60Hz/60FPS in the nvidia control panel. Makes it run cooler and quieter in most of the games, since it doesn't utelize the full power then.
