Joined Army Reserves at 41 years old, non-prior. 35Lima. Been fit all my life. Wasn’t an issue. Keep my Federal job and serve one weekend a month. Had my “why.” Family had health issues and held me back for a decade. Glad I followed through. Wish more negativity and assumptions weren’t directed to older recruits. There should be more positivity. Look at how many have never joined.

I joined at 29 turned 30 in Osut. Best thing I ever did! There is only 2 MOS’s in the Army 11B’s an 11 wanna B’s 😂 good luck man!

Army is easier to rank up in an go to schools like airborne, Ranger, Air Assault ect. But Marine Corps is better as far as squared away..

Husband is active duty and he is helping me get ready with things i need to know , book wise i guess you could say. Only thing im not ready with is physically but i know it will get easier after i get there.

Yeah the first two weeks will suck but once you get use to the routine, you’ll just be counting the days and not worried too much about the fitness said. It’s more mental unless you are SUPER out of shape. I would say practice long distance than anything. Good luck

I joined at 29 I am 34 now I wouldn't recommend it unless you are really fit and have no problem having a younger person talk down to you but if it's something you really want to do go for it and good luck.

Shipping out to Fort Jackson first week of May. CBRN specialist going in as an E3 and I’m 31. I’m equally nervous and excited about the journey ahead. I selected Airborne school as my option. Looking forward to the challenges ahead. Been eager for this opportunity and personal growth. The civilian life has taught me many things but there is much room to grow!

Definitely would NOT recommend joining the military at an older age unless you can go officer. If you do enlist, I'd recommend national guard/reserves instead of active duty. *If you do go active duty as enlisted* .... if you CAN join the Air Force instead of the Army, it's probably a smarter, wiser idea, for a whole bunch of reasons (not just physically but also emotionally) , to take your ass in the Air Force instead of the Army, since the Army is way more of a young man's game than Air Force is....

@@SupremeSoldier I got to say that I'm only speaking from my experience which may not be similar to other people's experiences, but no..... No..... After being around navy and air force I can say those branches, especially the air force, would be more tolerable for an older person, especially older (lower) enlisted , than the army would be...for a whole lot of reasons.

Joined marines at 27 first class pft and cft. Most of these kids can’t even pass a pft or do pull ups so if you know you fit and can run at 27 go for it and don’t let anything hold you back. But I would say join the army and not marines. Army more laid back for 25 and up. marines they treat u like children because majority of these kids joining are children and still act like children. Army everyone has a personality and I just feel like you’ll be more comfortable marines are too darn serious and they don’t like when you’re comfortable

Lol you can commission as a officer, I understood what you meant. Two ways simple to become an officer 1) you can enlist if you got a degree you’ll be E4 climb the ranks then go GREEN TO GOLD then commission that’ll be process depending on how well you perform. 2) you can commission as officer without enlisting successfully complete BCT & OCS then you become an Officer

I’m joining the army reserves as prior service active enlisted. I’m leaving January 16th 2024. Going to basic at LEONARD WOOD and OCS at Moore and branching AG at Jackson. Did you see any prior service at your basic?

Yeah, he was a 47 year old. He was in the Air Force for 11 years. More ribbons than the D.S’s.

Someone would probably tell you "it's like that in the civilian world too" but it' a whole lot worse in the military and I think the Army (with probably a lesser extent the Navy) is even worse for a variety of reasons than the Air Force or Coast Guard or Space Force might be
