I wanted to enlist after high school but i wasn’t satisfied with my scores, and never had to time study to increase my score. Simply because of being a dual enrollment student at a community college, dealing with my high school courses, and i even obtained a job during this time. I’ll soon be beginning college in 2 weeks to work towards getting my bachelors of science in nursing. After seeing your video I want to join after obtaining my bsn. Would I have to take to the asvab and go through the basic training period too if I commission in? Also does the Airforce have ways to help me work towards getting rid of some of the debt I accumulated from college?

I am a computer science and computer engineering double major and I would’ve completed 3 years of my bachelors at the end of the spring 2021 semester. However, I would still have 3-4 semesters to complete afterwards and money is becoming an issue. And on top of that, I’m noticing it’s a bit of a struggle to find internships and work after and during college. My friends haven’t had much luck bc of lack of experience. So I wanna join the Air Force to be a computer systems analyst (translates to being a software developer) to make school a little easier financially and to get real world experience in my field right away. However, Idk how being in the Air Force would translate to me getting my degree. Could I attend regular university? Do you think you could’ve? I wanted to go to Virginia tech to get my masters. I was going to do it after my 4 years bc I’m not sure it’s possible to do while in the military. Would you recommend this? Also, does this plan sound secure or am I not understanding how getting a job in the Air Force works? Thank you!

Yes you are able to continue your education while you are active duty. Most likely you will be going to school online if you are ACTIVE DUTY because you move alot, there potential for frequently TDYs and deployments. If you get the job (systems analyst) prior to joining then great if not you get what the Air Force needs you to. I would say secure the job you want if you can wait for it.

@@SydneiAlicia im a bit confused on what you mean. I can choose to wait until the job I want is available to enlist? Bc the whole point of me going is to get work experience and finish my education. But if I can’t go into the Air Force in my field then I kind of see it as a waste of my time. I’d rather not be put in a random position that doesn’t contribute to my career. It’s my only reservation about the Air Force in all honesty...

I want to join the marines after high school! I’m a junior and I’m gonna get in contact with a recruiter already! But I’m sort of confused, it’s boot camp and then service? If it is I want to apply to college months before my contract is over. I want to join the FBI and work in the behavioral analyst unit. Tell me if I’m wrong! I really need advice! After service am I getting a full ride through college ?

Hi, unfortunately I do not know much about the reserves. I am active duty. I would say go speak with a reserves recruiter they should be able to answer your questions.

If you are still a junior, I’d recommend you look into the Softbook program. This is the only time you’re able to list 3 jobs while at MEPS. This is huge because if you start the process any time after your junior year, you’ll have to list 7 to 10 jobs while at MEPS. That means the Air Force has 7 to 10 different job options to match you to. But as a Junior, they only have 3. This really helps you with getting the job you most desire. Keep in mind, these Softbook jobs go fast, so if you’re too late, you’ll miss the window. Good luck.

I already have a degree as well so I understand what comes along after college but what about having an associates degree instead of a bachelor's?
@SydneiAlicia
@SydneiAlicia 4 жыл бұрын
Same thing. However, with an associates you can’t commission. I believe the minimum is a bachelors.

Wait im confused so, if i go to college before the military, why would i be even debt ? Doesnt the military give u benefits and help u pay for college, or does that not apply since i’ve already finished college? I think thats the question that the person with the teacher career was asking. Im also scared in going to college after the military because then i dont know if my test scores will be valid and if they will accept my into college
@SydneiAlicia
@SydneiAlicia 3 жыл бұрын
If you go to college prior to joining and have debt from that, the military does not pay for it. If you join and then decide to pursue school then you’ll be able to use your benefits.

So if I get a bachelors degree in Nursing, then join the airforce. Will they pay off my student debt?
@SydneiAlicia
@SydneiAlicia 2 жыл бұрын
The Air Force does not pay off debt that has been incurred prior to joining.
@Tydapper
@Tydapper 4 жыл бұрын
So when you have debt do they pay for the debt when you join the Air Force?
@SydneiAlicia
@SydneiAlicia 4 жыл бұрын
No they do not. You are responsible for any debt procured prior to service.
@Jodywithawhy
@Jodywithawhy 4 жыл бұрын
They won’t pay the debt, but if it was federal loan, you can defer it for the time you’re serving.
