Hey - Great info - I'm no machinist by any stretch of the imagination but I copied your procedure and was able to make a serviceable part for my jointer using my old drill press, a hacksaw and a tap. I just clamped the piece of 3/4" rod in a wood clamp while drilling and I'm sure it isn't dead-on center but that doesn't affect the clamping force. Thanks.
