So in the anime, the art style changed because Araki got tired of drawing buff men all the time. He wanted to make his characters look a lot more realistic and lean, so he began to go in that direction and by the end of Part 4, JoJo’s art style had been redefined entirely. They reflect this in the anime by making the characters look less stern and more soft. This will lead to later parts where in the anime they’ll merge the two art styles to make what we know today as the signature JoJo anime style, stern, romanesque, and manly faces but very elegant and lean body types.
@ryangreen2879Ай бұрын
Yup. Part 4 started like Fist of the North Star (or as you know it better, part 1-3 JoJo) and ended as its entirely own artstyle of masculine fabulousness. It is literally the transition point into his now signature artstyle. In the Anime, they animated it, start to finish, in the artstyle that dominated the end of Part 4 instead of showing the change-over.

The art style change happened in the manga too and keeps changing until part 7/8. What's weird is that in ch 1 of the part 4 manga, Josuke looks really bulky like Jotaro but then looks skinny like how he looks in the anime by the end.

New Part, New Musical References! In these first tso episodes: - Josuke's design is inspired by Prince (it's also his favorite musician) - The part takes place in 1999, and there is also a "1999" insigna on Josuke's shirt. both are references to Prince's song named 1999 - Josuke's Stand, Crazy Diamond, is named after Pink Floyd's Shine on You Crazy Diamond - Anjuro Katagiri is nicknamed Angelo, after Angelo Badalamenti, an american composer - Angelo's stand, Aqua Necklace, is probably a reference to the album named Aqua, from the band Asia

I LOVE the stark difference between part 4 Jotaro and part 3 Jotaro. He's still the same character but you can really see how he'd chilled out over the last 10 years. Hell like he said, he was willing to take a punch on behalf of joseph while breaking the news, couldn't imagine part 3 Jotaro ever letting someone punch him.

Jotaro's character development is underrated fr. Some people act like it's a downgrade but did they expect him to act like an angsty teen for the rest of his life? I'm lowkey proud of him, personally. He's still our Jotaro but he's more respectful now, like with those girls, at least he didn't call them names lol glad to see he outgrew that ❤

Also part 4 starts the greatest and also saddest trend in Jojo: Stands are named after bands, songs and artists. Josuke's for example is "Crazy Diamond" from the Prince Album and song, in part 5 we have a stand named "Black Sabbath", and so on. Unfortunately, due to FUCKING COPYRIGHT, dubbing and subbing have to change the names to comply... And we end up with some VERY stupid names
@Uug_NaaАй бұрын
About the art style, after Part 3, Jojo's creator Hirohiko Araki shifted his focus from huge muscular guys to fashion models. Starting from Part 4, the characters are much less muscular and more slim. As for the color choices, Araki didn't always have specific colors in mind when creating characters (although some characters' hair colors are mentioned directly in the manga). When he illustrated special pages or one-shot covers, he often chose different colors to make them stand out. This is why, in the anime, the color tones sometimes shift during specific moments. David Production respectfully adapts Araki's evolving art style in the series.

@niceguyofgames949019 сағат бұрын
Part 4 best explains why having this form of protagonist works so well. By having the protagonist be a lineage of a character, Araki can essentially reset the stakes as much as he wants. He doesn't have to go from fate of country to fate of world to fate of galaxy and on. By having the protag be new with every generation he can have one story be the fate of the world and the next story just be the fate of a sleepy town and you don't lose investment.

@mcreenaАй бұрын
The art style between part 3 and part 4 changed gradually in the manga. The beginning/mid of part 4 was very similar to Stardust Crusaders, and it wasn't until the ending that it really changed. However, they decided to do the anime in the end of part 4 art style instead of the beginning, which is why the change seems so drastically different from part 3 in the anime! Also, part 4 is where you start to get a lot of stands named after musical bands and songs. Due to copyright laws, they've changed a lot of their names in the subtitles, but not in speaking. So you might notice some stand names being said differently than they're written. The changed names are usually kinda humorous and fun to try to figure out. For instance, there's a stand called Bad Company in this part which is localized to "Worse Company". Or Boy II Man (based off Boyz 2 Men) is changed to just "Boy Man Man" (edit) Also! It should be noted that Araki's decision to have Joseph be unfaithful to Holly was not well received by the fanbase. Everyone sort of collectively agrees it's out of character for him, but I guess Araki didn't see another really good way to introduce the next Joestar since he didn't want to age Jotaro too much.

26:13 It’s unknown why the Stand Cry in a Stand Rush (flurries of punches or kicks in the series) is different. Dio’s was “Muda! Muda! Muda!” which translates into “Futile/Pointless/Useless” repeatedly, as a taunt to his foes. Jotaro’s Stand Cry is “Ora, Ora!” Josuke’s Stand Cry is “Dora, Dora!” It’s not really explained why the letter D is there, but it’s most likely Araki thought about adding a letter to represent the part or it just means “Diamond Ora!”

Yeah, so the artstyle in the manga changed gradually within Part 4, but in the anime they had to pick a unified style so that’s why Jotaro appears so different from the get-go, baby-faced and all. Araki got tired of hypermuscular dudes and leaned more into Roman statues and fashion models, this will be abundantly clear in Part 5.
@mariadibondone9070Ай бұрын
I think you are right about the voices. The previous seasons have more or a... theatrical? Super-dramatic reading that matches the art-style and the vibe of the story really well, from the victorian horror of the first season to the hyper-action of stardust crusaders. From here on, and specially in Diamond is Unbreakable, there's a lot more of an almost-slice-of-life story, which is reflected by more relaxed teenager sounding voices from Yuuki Ono (Josuke's va) Kaji Yuki (Kokichi's va). Related but also somewhat answering your question about the visual change, Jojo's as a manga has a long story of almost 30 years. When the first part, Phantom Blood was coming out, the general style of Shonen Jump (the magazine it was published in) was all about muscular macho-men in dramatic honorable fights (you can see a very similar style in one of Araki's inspirations from the era, Fist of the North Star). However, as years went by, the style of manga that filled the Shonen Jump started to shift. in the 90's, when DiU came out, other popular mangas where Yu Yu Hakusho, One Piece and Shaman King. Araki both recognized that the old style wouldn't be as popular, and felt like he wanted to shift away from what he'd written until then, so he started to change his art-style into younger, more-slender looking characters that resembled what was popular and liked at the moment (while keeping his own personal art-style). Araki has always been keenly aware of trends and has actively made efforts to make each new part unique and fresh and progressive while keeping its own brand. I think that's what makes it such a long-standing success. Even if a part doesn't resonate with you, each one is so different from the rest you can always find something to enjoy - and you can always feel surprised and excited to see what comes next. Sorry for the long comment I'm just very passionate about JJBA and specially about DiU, and I love how you pay so much attention to details of the art-style and music that also reflect the historical changes of the series

Ah yes good old duwang *chew* so the change in the art style mainly stems form the manga where it slowly changed form overly buff men form the likes of fist of the north star to more leaner muscular builds. so to avoid changing it mid way of the story they pretty much had the shift be at the start of the part for the anime. part 4 josuke or hair josuke to make it eaiser to tell which josuke because later parts are a soft reboot of sorts and will use some of the same names. he very much has thing with his that pretty much blinds him to many things when people insult it. when he is calm he can pretty much completely heal things properly but when he get angry theirs not much focus on how it heals so you get moments like with the first bully and his face being not properly fixed. Part 4 is where araki's love of music is just full on displayed with the stands now being named after musicians, bands or songs instead of just characters. unfortunately this was also one of the main reason why it took so long for jojo's beyond part 3 to really come to the west. one of the main reasons being that while not necessarily as many references are their to Prince compared to later parts it is often cited as the reason why it took so long for it to get adopted. this part would also be the start of massive localization changes to avoid copyright. though some do try to keep some form of the reference in some way or form weather it be change some of the words around such as with josuke's stand Crazy diamond to its localized name Shining Diamond both of which are nods to the same song "Shine on you crazy diamond" by Pink Floyd. i would really recommend you check out Hamon Beat "every Music reference in Jojo's " series as its currently at part 5. in it he clears up some misconceptions on some of the songs while also giving proof form interviews or showing how some of names are more in your face when reading Japanese. most certainly after this part you could do a couple reactions vids of them as the first 2 based on parts 1 &2 aren't that long but the other do get longer. hamon beat does have 2 jojo music refences series but the one that has "every" is where he goes into more detail that his first one while also showing some stuff not tied to the anime but more so the manga its slef.
