love my girl JoJo (stream good to know) but i think considering she fought for 7+ years for her legal right to commercially release music, her perspective is a little shocking? (she literally describes that time as not owning her voice). i understand the point she's making - "it's going to happen anyway so let's find a way to make it work for us as artists" but i think there's more likely to be an abuse of power that negatively impacts artists. especially in an industry that's already known for mistreatment of talent acts

To be honest, AI music is kinda cool. For example, Britney is on a hiatus but someone created an AI of her singing Genie in a Bottle. How cool is that?! It feels as though she's still recording even though she isn't. As for the money, that's a legal issue that studios, companies, record labels, and artists will have to worry about when the time comes. For now, it's free and fun to play around with. However, do support your favourite artists by streaming their official music, and purchasing merch and physical media.

@@godinergy this USED to be the case. If they are on a label nowadays the labels are smart enough to make a part of the record contract a cut into that too as well. They get a percentage of all tours, ticket sales, merch sales, and even physical album sales made direct from the artist to the fan etc. Which is why an artist has charge $20 to $25 for signed CDs on the road. Up-sold to pay back the percentage to the label and so they themselves can make SOME money. 360 deal still includes promotion and physical distribution album sale printing etc. Trust and believe I know this is the case from working with and having friends in the business. Independent is WAAAAYYYY more work but you keep more. Label is less work but they keep part of everything and you owe them. They tell you when you can and can't put out music

@@godinergy This is about AI... so what will happen when tech gets good enough for a label can send an AI program with highly sophisticated hologram or robotic tech to go and do your tour for you and pay them NOTHING because they don't have to? They sing like you, move like you, speak like you etc. What's the artist needed for? They wouldn't even need to provide food, lodging, flights, etc... they wouldn't even need you to record new music... they can have the AI do it in your manner. So, calling AI the future and supporting this is a grave mistake especially coming from JoJo who's an artist

But who knows 50 to 100 years from now? Only 20ish years ago fans were still paying for music. Buying whole physical albums. To downloading it for free or bootlegging from Napster etc. To only buying individual songs at 99 cents from iTunes instead of full albums in stores putting those out of business and less money for artists. Then, streaming came paying less than 0.00030 cents per play and at the same time we saw fans just preferring to get music free where ever possible... KZbin. Now we are seeing fans asking for AI songs of Drake with this person and that person that he never made.... even dead artist. So, what's 50 years from now??? Who knows. But with videos like this... we are headed in the wrong direction.

She had many hits, got locked in a contract illegally, and made a massive comeback. Jojo isn't wrapped up in becoming mainstream. The music scene changed in the 10 years she was gone, she accepted it, moved on, made new music, and is flourishing now.
