I'm bisexual and had never officially come out to our parents, so we both came out to our family at the same time so he wouldn't feel so afraid. I'm trying to introduce him to lgbtq+ issues and history slowly so he unlearns whatever homophobia our parents or other relatives passed on as well as so he is just generally more informed and be able to be a better ally. If you'd like you could take my approach when coming out. if you don't feel ready yet or aren't safe it's okay you can come out whenever you're ready. Hope this helped

Reasons why having an lgbtq+ children’s icon is great for all kids: • Gives lgbtq+ kids representation and makes them feel more comfortable and normal • It can be comforting for lgbtq+ kids in homophobic families and let’s them know that they should be loved and that being lgbtq+ is perfectly normal • Teaches and informs straight kids about representation which they might not learn from school or parents making them more accepting • Makes it okay for kids to explore who they are freely • Normalises lgbtq+ people

I remember when I first came out as Bi, it was my younger brother. He didnt really know what it was so he said "So ur a Bicycle?" I explained to him what it meant and he was like cool. But he still says bicycle instead of Bisexual. Then I came out to two of my cousins who are about my age. I came out to one of them through text. When I messaged him that can I tell u something and he was like, ur gay? And I was like no I am Bi. He was really nice about it. Then I came out to my other cousin who was very close to me. She didnt really know what it meant so I had to explain it to her. She was also really sweet about it. A few months later, I came out to my parents through a note. My mother was really confused as she had never heard of the LGBTQ+ community. But she was like, ok I accept u but it will take me alittle bit time to accept ut whole community cause I dont really know much about it and I was like ok, take ur time. My father at first was not really nice about it. Then about a week later he was like, I cant really do anything cause its ur life so do whatever u want to do cause I am ur father after all and its my job to support u no matter what u do. He hasnt really said anything rude or homophobic since then. I told my parents that I dong want them to out me to anyone cause I am not ready yet especially my mothers sisters cause they r really homophobic. But my mother accidentally outed me to them. Its been really annoying cause whenever they r around me, they r always just being annoying saying that its somehow gonna turn my younger cousins gay or something. But if 2 of my cousins who I came out to first r around, they always stand up for me and its just really sweet. Sometimes I just like to annoy them so if one of them if being homophobic, I just go like, I AM BISEXUALLLL. Its really fun. I have always wanted my hair to be short so I just cut it short recently with the help of my two older cousins. I kinda tried doing one side shaved but since I didnt have a eraser (I think thats what its called. English is not my first language) so I just used the sisors. My parents didnt really say anything cause they know even if they said no I still wouldve cut my hair cause its my hair not their. I love annoying my homophobic relatives so much. I also recently discovered that I am Non-binary so I came out again to my brother and 2 of my very close cousins. I had to explain what it meant to them. They have been really supportive althogh they still dont really know what it means. In which country I am from, there r no they /them pronouns as everything is gendered. Like this city/thing is a girl and this day/city/thing is a boy. Its really annoying. But me and those 2 cousins mostly talk in English so they always try and use they/them pronouns for me and I think that thats really sweet of them.They r like my siblings and I love them both. I dont really know when I am gonna come out to my parents as Non-binary cause I dont want them to out me again. But I will in the future when I am ready. Also I really want to thank u for posting these amazing videos. U always make my day better whenever u post. (Sorry for typing such a long paragraph)

I can’t even imagine the pressure of discovering yourself while being a public figure at such a young age!! She has every right to celebrate herself and I am so excited to see her being able to date who she wants and stuff without having to act stealthy or secretive about it. Things will still be hard for her regardless bc lgbt can be a tough thing to be in this world, but the celeb gossip side of things will at least not be able to hold it over her or bully her with speculation and rumours in the same way they would if she was still in the closet.

I am a little over 50. I feel like the generation just behind me (around 40) will be the last generation to 'see' color/race. And I feel like the generation after that (now 20s) will be the last generation that will 'see' gender and sexuality as differentiating. It is currently a disheartening time - but I have so much faith and hope for the generations right behind me. They will cure the evils of bias, misogyny, and racism. In time, there will be a blindness to these things that truly just do not matter.

I was not expecting to cry watching this. I'm not LGBT but the fact that that little girl even had to make an announcement about her sexuality like that is heartbreaking. No one has to "come out" as straight, they are just accepted for who they are automatically while y'all potentially sacrifice your lives and careers over it. What a brave kid.

GUYS! HAVING YOUR CHILDREN SEE LGBTQ+ PEOPLE WONT MAKE THEM GAY! All its gonna do is allow your child to see what it is allowing them to be true to themselves instead of forcing them down a horrible rabbit hole of questions that you as a parent are just to scared to answer.
@dutchik51074 жыл бұрын
It's weird that they would think the reverse wouldn't happen. Seeing so so so many straight couples and still being gay. It's just that maybe they will be more likely to come out. Especially sooner. What gives you the right to say what they deserve eh? It’s pretty arrogant to think you can judge the moral worth of another person, particularly a hypothetical person. That’s why my response to homophobia is always “let the one who is without sin throw the first stone”. In other words: “so what if I am sinning? So are you”. We are not meant to judge each other’s moral worth. That is playing God.

Like, there was so little LGBT rep when I was a kid, so I thought I was broken for a long ass time. But Jojo being as popular as she is and expressing how it's ok to be LGBT is just *chef's kiss*. There are going to be so many kids out there who see their idol saying it's ok to be who you are and they'll feel less alone, wrong, or confused. After seeing the stuff from Jojo, I have a lot more respect for her.

Jojo already deserves so much, at 17 (or 18 idk) she is already a really good influence as well as a great influencer. Jojo coming out just shows how much stronger she is because being an icon that bit at that young age and at a time like this, she knew she was taking a huge risk and she took it anyway showing that she was ready for any reaction society gave her. She’s helping make the path to accepting lgbtq+ as well as other celebrities who took the same risks by coming out to the world, showing that you should be yourself and nothing else
