I'm obsessed with her bad rebrand. It's a horse girl's Hot Topic phase. It's a homeschooler's idea of rebellion. She's like Disney's 52nd "first gay character." She's such a summer camp counselor. She looks like a Halloween decoration.

The only thing I know about these people is from this video lol. But just seeing this, after reading Jennette McCurdy's memoir, their moms seem SUPER similar. I can't even stand the Dance Moms lady and refuse to watch any of it, but she hit the nail on the head talking about JoJo and her mom. I feel really sorry for her. I hope she gets distance from her family and some MASSIVE therapy to realize how fucked up her life has been. And hopefully have all of her own bank accounts in different banks than they currently are so her mom/family can't have any access to them anymore.

@@thehousecat93I agree that she will have to reckon with this, but I think it's important to keep in mind that she was still a kid when that happened, and is still a kid now. it is not fair to hold a teenager fully responsible for perpetuating a cycle of abuse they have been trapped in since they could form memories. that kind of treatment is all she has known, and she has been told her entire life that it is a good and appropriate way to treat people.
@hnichole
@hnichole 8 ай бұрын
@@johngradycole92 I could be wrong, but I just recently saw a breakdown here on YT of the XOMG problems and for at least a good chunk of that time, Jojo was an adult. As someone who loved Dance Moms growing up who watched Jessalyn and Abby's treatment of her in real time, I agree in the one sense that she is the product of all of the abusive adults in her life ... buuut, as someone who also experienced extensive childhood abuse, there often comes a point where you decide that you never want to do to another child what your own parents did to you. Jojo has yet to have that moment and is instead continuing the cycle, despite a LOT of people who have called her out on it. It's her own choice now not to change, lots of people grow up abused and don't become abusers.

@@Opaali Not sure, I just remember her saying that her song was about her ex and that was while she was teasing Karma. With the way that JoJo bounces all over the place it could be the song that she is currently saying is about an ex or it could be both. To her, it probably _is_ controversial though. She's acting like a kid who's just turned thirteen - "being thirteen is a _teenager_ , and being a teenager means I'm all grown up!" She's cosplaying adulthood. She seems incredibly sheltered. She was heavily micromanaged all through her childhood and teenage years. Child stars don't come out of that without some scars

I'm not gonna justify any of her behavior. Just keep in mind this girl has had no adults protecting her. Her own mom would bleach her hair as young as like 3. Like a toddler. She was exposed to allot of dangerous groomers. She never had a normal childhood or was able to find out who she was on her own. As someone who also wasn't able to have a childhood experience for different reasons it makes me sad. She's in denial still. Because she's only like 20. When her brain fully develops I hope she starts seeing reality for what it was and starts working on herself and working through the trauma and stuff.

i think my biggest issue about this rebrand is that it’s so CLEARLY a rebrand. miley rebranded herself, but it was with reason and purpose, she was ACTUALLY being a “bad girl” going to parties and sneaking around getting drunk. and i’m not saying jojo HAS to do those things to make this rebrand work per se, but it creates a disconnect between her and the brand and the lyrics. i think it would’ve been more successful if she swung in the complete opposite direction and did more of a “stripped” calm like “look at the real me” kind of thing to show that she’s a real person and not just evolving into yet another brand. like you can’t just CALL yourself a “bad girl” and then you are one. you actually have to do the work to take on that kind of persona. anyways, great video! always love your essays ❤

The funny things about Jojo idolizing Miley's "Can't Be Tamed" growing up phase video are threefold. One, Miley did some sexy shoulder-and-hip writhing with backup dancers but it was tame by today's standards. She eased into the sexier stuff with multiple videos, not one. Two, Miley's look wasn't a grimdark parody of her 'old self' so it didn't feel like she was trying too hard to seem more grown up. Three... it was a good song.

Also unfortunately for jojos marketing team, the transition from squeeky clean child star to raunchy adult artist is significantly smoother today than it was 10yrs ago, mostly thanks to miley n those before her taking the worst of it. After bangers nothing any child star does to switch images will have the same impact, it all feels either like not a big deal or like theyre being a cringey try hard. Because as much as the internet will take things and run with them, there's a reason why the confusion is there in the first place, and Jojo isn't helping.

Did you see the outfit when she performed at a pride event, it looks classic JoJo just a smaller costume that you would expect for someone her age (kind of the amount of clothing that she is wearing in the white outfit in her music video). @@amandamandamands like what’s so bad about sticking to colourful clothes, it doesn’t mean she has to continue wearing bows and child-like clothing. not everything has to be dark and edgy to be taken seriously and in her case, it’s having the opposite effect. again i get it that this ‘contrasting change’ is bringing in a lot of attention more than a subtle shift towards more mature clothes would, but they’re doing it in a way which seems so inauthentic to jojo. like i’m not just saying that because i’m used to seeing her as a child, i’m saying that her new aesthetic does not suit her at all, it doesn’t feel authentic for her. like they could’ve changed her aesthetic in a much more natural, fitting way

@@yumi4160 That was my point, the bright rainbow rhinestone aesthetic is actually her (might change as she ages, might not), she is trying to do this edgy rebrand and it is coming across as the costume that she is wearing. I don't know if it is just because she is trying to distract from the XOMG Pop stuff or if this is what she thinks she needs to do for her Bangerz Era (which she has told us that she is doing) and to show that she is now an 'adult' seeing as she was getting so much hate for years that she was still JoJo with the BowBow. I am also suspicious of that seeing as JoJo said that she was sitting on the song for 2 years and was waiting for the right time to release it. It will be interesting to see how her look etc changes for the next song whenever it drops. They even react to themselves in the same way. This is what someone who is developmentally stalled would think is "spicy". Like Carrie not realising what is going on throughout the movie because she's been held back and gaslit by her mother. Same with the KISS getup. It's uncomfortable to witness someone so unaware of themself and the world around them.

You mention it, but.. LET'S NOT FORGET: Jojo Siwa, and her mother, created an abusive set on Dance Pop Revolution. Leigha Sanderson was bleeding from her belly button, and had to get spinal surgery. She was told to keep dancing, "Put a pad on it". This information released recently, and suddenly, coincidentally, Jojo Siwa has her entire cringy, deliberately obtuse, rage bait rebranding. All news has been focused on the rebrand and straying away from the more important issues. Jojo Siwa has also been recently communicating with and supporting controversial and/or criminal personalities such as: Shane Dawson, James Charles, and Colleen Ballinger, to name a few. This rebrand is not important. Also, the idea that Jojo claimed she wrote Karma comes from these couple topics: "Choose Your Fighter" ad-libs, like you mentioned, and I also believe it's obviously not her voice singing it, it's Emeline's I can also distinctly remember a clip of her saying, "When I wrote Karma.." in a quick interview. Lot of people heard this, but can't find the clip anymore, so idk. Some Mandela Effect going on there.

Where does the Mandela effect take part in this? *I had to fix this because a few grannies and grandpa's where too old to understand * What I meant was the Mandela effect doesn't really take part in this as it's more of manipulation than anything. Making people think that Jojo didn't say she wrote karma ,even though she did but the clip was removed from the internet and that manipulates people into thinking they imagined it or got the words wrong. That's why I said "where does it take part ", because it isn't people forgetting but rather thinking they got her words wrong or thought she said something alone those lines
