First, I hope y'all get better very soon. Rest, that is what my doc told me when I had pneumonia (twice). Cleaning the barn. Folks around these parts use a pressure washer. Yeah, I know, water under pressure. One farmer told me that once you get everything that cannot get wet out of the way, it is the fastest and best way to clean the floor, bar none. It shoots soap and then pressure water. One farmer told me he hooks it up to his hot water. Love you guys.

Fast forward 20 years, the machinery is all parked outside. Jojo has a feedlot permit with 500 "head" of cats inside. We find her cleaning out the barn with her skid steer while a semi from the pet food company fills the bulk cat food bin on the end of the building...

You dear could never look like crap! Please take care you two, we need you! As far as cleaning the floors, I use a giant vacuum. No dust stirred up to breath in either. I use to use a sweeping compound when I was still booming it, that worked well too at keeping the dust down. Best, Mike

Sorry to hear you caught what Zach had. As far as what you missed in your sanitation efforts goes, don't beat yourself up, it was probably airborne. so cleaning and isolating yourself while still living together is always good, it's also very often ineffective. My birthday is also December 9th, and from now on I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers on that day. Rest up, get better, and have a nice Christmas.

Jo you need to do what I did, build a litterbox on a pallet, about 16 inches tall, fill it with dirt and when it needs changing just dump it in the field with the forklift and then fill it back up with dirt. No scooping that way 😂.

I don't know if you have a skid steer? They make a rotary broom and bucket attachment that sweeps the dirt and whatever into the bucket. Then bop outside and dump it! Get well soon!

Now unfortunately there is nothing you can do except rest untill your completly over it. Ive had pneumonia about 8 times maybe more. I got it only in the summertime workin hard and going in n out of extreme temperatures. Live in Florida so it be feeling like a 100 degrees outside n iwd be going in n out of my ice cold retail store n then end up with pneumonia. If you try n start working again before yoyr healed ( because you think ur feeling better kinda ) it will turn into walking pneumonia . Get him to rest n take care of him. It can cause seriouse respiratory problems or worse if you dont take heed. You can run that place ! Your JoJo Snow City Farm girl of the future 😊. Luv you Jojo - get well!!! However - I am going to stick with my Uncle! He farmed wheat and corn around Wichita Kansas for 65+ years. For a number of years he headed the Kansas Wheat Commission and promoted Kansas Wheat internationally. He had several farming rules, all based on common sense. High on his list, NO animal lives on my farm who don't earn his or her own keep. Countless cattle, and chickens, and pigs. One horse. One mouser cat for the barns! One stray dog who will move on when the grass is greener on the other side of the fence! No animals who cost time or money. Of course he lived through the depression and through eras with no farm subsidies and the lowest of low market prices. He lived at a time when less than 1.0% of the farmland was irrigated. He had the best wry sense of humor ever. Truly I miss him; and, all my 23 Aunts and Uncles, (17 of whom were farmers for extended amounts of time.) Jojo, keep on keeping on! He would have loved you; and teased you for ever and ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if you are aware of this but by far the main method of spread for pneumonia, as it the case with most viruses, is by tiny airborne droplet. This coupled with greater levels of atmospheric moisture or, conversely strangely enough, high levels of dust particles aggravates the situation greatly. Winter weather cold and wet discourages adequate ventilation in rooms or other structures which of course raises local moisture levels and sometimes increased dust levels. If folks (or livestock) are in close situations or suffering underlying ill health respiratory issues they will be much more susceptible. (The classic situation is folks that travel by air eg holidaying, are quite likely to suffer at least a cold following a journey due to the enclosed recycled air supply for these reasons.) Children going to school in the Autumn following the Summer break, often bring home coughing and sneezing illness till they get over it
