You gotta download a trucker app when driving with extra length and height on long trips. They will find routes that accommodate your length an height and find gas stations that accommodate your length. Ran into a an issue driving a 26 ft truck through downtown Denver that was a little tight and the trucker app save the rest of the trip from any more of those intersections/overpasses.

RV suggestion: We were full time rv ers for 12 years and had land in Oregon, set up for our trailer. Emptying our black water was a real hassle at first. Our answer: we renter a portable out house that they pumped out once a week, but we seldom used it. Instead we purchased a macerater. We connected the macerater to the black water tank each week before they came to pump the outhouse and emptied our tank into theirs. This allowed us to use the RV toilet rather than the outhouse . The macerater uses a garden hose for the transfer. We used the gray water to water our plants. They can be purchased at RV stores and are ready to attach to your rig. Hope this helps. Ken (82)

A small tip: whenever we go to or from Maine, we plug Danbury, CT, into our GPS. First, they have a fantastic RV-friendly (and dog-friendly) rest area. It also takes you far enough west so that your GPS will then guide you south without hitting the dangerous bridges and parkways. We have a 41-foot motorhome.

You should have a NOAA weather radio with you. And always know your plan if you had to leave your vehicle and seek shelter elsewhere. This last year I've become a bit addicted to watching the tornado chaser videos on the Ryan Hall y'all channel. Don't be scared, be prepared!

As a truck driver I never trust car gps and only rely on my truck gps … you can get one at any of the big truck stops and they have settings for height and length that you can set to avoid those problems

I watched your trip, I cried, I said yep... Get moving!!!! I'm 68 years old and I have a motorhome. My mom, kids, pets and I traveled every year. My car, motorhome, van or tent.... Never tired and haven't done it since she passed. My focus is on getting her home remodeled and off grid first. Then my service dog Phoenix and I are going to travel. Dog seatbelts? We had our dog latched in thank goodness, hit a deer, totaled the car. Airbags out all safe, with minor injuries, dog totally ok! His Seatbelt clasp bent. I think it saved his life.

I agree, 30 kilo dog hitting your car while driving is bad for the dog and your car, 30 kilo dog flying through your car in an emergency break is really bad. We had our dog always in a harnes when she was in our car. She was only 10 kilo.

Agree. A woman nearby flipped her car and her dog ran away scared and injured. Unfortunately, they never found her.

I agree. We had a woman crash through our fence at 70 MPH one week after we moved in. She lost her brakes coming down the steep, long hill that goes past the house. She was okay because she was wearing a seat belt but her dog had lots of internal injuries. He had to be put asleep the next day. It was sad.

That drive from San Felipe south..terrifying in areas. So narrow, no shoulder, potholes that blow tires and break axles..but that view as you come around the corner to Playa Santispac..insane! We're currently in Los Barriles, but will be heading to your side in January. Gosh, it would be nuts if we ran into you girls. My husband and I have been following your journey for years, we couldn't possibly be more impressed with all that you both tackle. It's quite impressive! My husband’s from Tulsa and we were there visiting with his family not long ago, when I experienced my first time being woken up at 4:30 AM to go huddle in the bathroom of the apartment.
